As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to apply innovative techniques to detect threats at cloud scale, refine our underlying security signal architecture, and partner deeply with other teams to improve how we manage cyber risk.About the RoleWe are looking for a Principal Cybersecurity Engineer to partner with the Analytics and Automation leadership to define overall technical strategy and direction for the teams. You will collaborate with a large cross section of teams across Workday to understand the threat landscape, perform data and detection gap analysis and then use this information to develop detections and automate response. You will be part of a team obsessed with finding new ways to detect advanced threats and support the teams responding to and proactively mitigating these threats. Some key responsibilities for this role include:Identifying areas where the team can better leverage security telemetry to detect threats to WorkdayDevelop architectures to scale our analytic platform and our ability to automate common response activitiesBuild relationships with partner teams at Workday to ensure strong collaboration and identify new ways we can add scale through automationMentor your fellow cybersecurity engineers to help grow their skills and impactLead cross-team activities such as threat hunts or assessments of detection coverageAbout YouBasic Qualifications10+ years of experience in technical security consultancy, security operations, response, or threat huntingExperience developing enterprise scale automation with a general-purpose programming or scripting language (Python, PowerShell, Java, Kotlin, Scala, JavaScript)BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent job experienceOther QualificationsExperience analyzing large data sets in a notebook or SIEM environmentWorking knowledge of major cyber threat actors and techniques they employExperience with securely designing, building, deploying cloud applicationsExperience with CI/CD pipelines and SDLCExperience working with data processing pipelines and streaming dataFamiliarity with containerized applications and their security considerationsHistory of creating novel or bespoke detections for advanced threat actorsPrior experience in creating threat detection or response capabilities at cloud scaleStrong understanding of platform, application, and cloud security fundamentalsAble to work dependently and coordinate activities across multiple teamsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, building positive relationships with partner organizationsAs a federal contractor, Workday is requiring all new hires to verify that they are fully-vaccinated against COVID-19 within 72 hours of beginning employment with Workday, consistent with applicable law.
