This vital team's focus is on the FinOps management of Public Cloud spend management. Our team leads forecasting demand and capacity needs for all Workday services be it data centers, AWS, or GCP by working collaboratively to improve our usage and spend. Our work is highly visible and has potential to directly impact on Workday's gross margin and stock price. We are comprised of Workmates who are proficient in Jupyter Notebooks, statistical analysis, and Cloud optimization. This is a new and growing field with potential for career advancement.About the RoleIn this important role the FinOps Manager role will lead public cloud usage governance across Workday. We are looking for an influential leader with in-depth knowledge and experience in public clouds and cost management to join and have an impact on our team. The work done on this team enables Workday’s growth in using public cloud infrastructure. You will have the exciting opportunity to collaborate closely with engineering and bridge the world of finance and tech.This role requires a strong technical skills to understand Workday’s technology stack. You will collaborate with the platform engineering and environment operations teams to define tagging of Workday Services with public cloud resources, outlining cloud strategy, analyzing cloud billing data using data analysis tools as well as 3rd party tools like Densify and Kubecost. This role entails setting up governance of public cloud usage by establishing accountability of spend to each department and sub-department. You will set targets, track real time consumption and costs, drive cost optimization, decide on sourcing pricing strategy as well as understand our unit economics. You love being the go-to person when it comes to these initiatives. About YouBasic qualifications• 10+ years of experience of which 3+ years are in a cloud business operations role with an emphasis on cost optimization.• Hands on experience in optimizing AWS and GCP Cloud spendOther qualifications•Strong understanding of technical engineering concepts of applications infrastructure requirements, understanding of AWS requirements for engineering capacity, ability to collaborate cross-organizationally and drive discussions, attention to detail, innovative leader with vision to develop cost optimization strategies.• Have skills to extract and analyze complex datasets using well optimized SQL queries, Python and/or RCan configure analytics platforms (for example Tableau) to prepare dashboards and reports• Build sound relationships, consistently collect feedback, and clearly communicate expectations with team members and partners• Appreciate working with distributed teams and influencing all of strategy, tactics, and execution, in an inclusive manner• Ability to partner with collaborators in Engineering and Product on cloud standard methodologies and costing in order to influence business case decisions.• Bachelor's degree in CSAs a federal contractor, Workday is requiring all new hires to verify that they are fully-vaccinated against COVID-19 within 72 hours of beginning employment with Workday, consistent with applicable law. Workday is an equal opportunity employer.
