Peakon teams own their roadmap, work collaboratively and include engineering, UI/UX design, and product management.The Agile Performance Enablement is a completely new Peakon team - where we are building a new product that will support employees’ growth and development opportunities through self reflection and peer feedback. We are a small and ambitious team and we expect to grow. The product is built from scratch, and we are taking the best from the Peakon and Workday world. This means that we currently have no legacy systems limiting us. It also means that we have some exciting opportunities in figuring out how to build this product, and also how to connect it to other applications within Workday. With ambitions as big as ours, we see individual growth and development as the key strategy for growing our business.About the RoleAs a leader of the team, you’ll directly manage 3-6 engineers at varying experience levels and stages in their career. You’ll work one to one with engineers to help them set and achieve goals, develop new skills, and support their overall career progression and personal development. You’ll work with the team with a focus on empowerment, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You’ll also play a key role in hiring additional members of your team as we continue to grow the Peakon engineering team at Workday. As a Software Engineering Manager, you’ll be responsible for executing on the product vision, working closely with the Product Manager and other stakeholders to scope, refine and break down projects, ensuring a high level of quality and timely delivery of your team’s projects. You’ll help the team focus on sound architecture, quality and building the right things, the right way.As part of the Peakon team at Workday, you'll:Be the people leader for 3-6 engineers of various disciplines and experience levelsWork with our talent acquisition team to hire the best talentProvide guidance to members of your team, supporting their personal and professional growthContinuously help your team improve its ways of workingUse your technical skills to contribute towards building a best-in-class productCollaborate with the Product Manager to plan and prioritise work on your team’s roadmapBe a member of the wider Engineering Management team, meeting regularly with peers from other teams to discuss best practices and challenges.Our techWe make it a priority to stay on the cutting edge of tech. We are highly motivated by learning and growing in our roles, and constantly evolving is a key part of that.We believe there is great value in a shared toolchain, which is why our tech stack centers around JavaScript, with Node.js on the server and React on the frontend. To prevent runtime errors in our frontend applications, we have recently introduced TypeScript. Ultimately we believe that our tech stack needs to evolve as our industry evolves.We are hosted on AWS and we use PostgreSQL (through RDS), Redis and ElasticSearch for storage. We rely heavily on automated testing on all levels of the application, with thousands of tests checking every commit to our code base.
