We are looking for a Senior Data Manager – Ontology Life Sciences & Healthcare to join our team in London.Reporting to the VP of Content - Life Sciences & Healthcare, the role is pivotal in developing and implementing Ontology / reference data to support the standardisation and commercialisation of data across the Life Science & Healthcare organisation. About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishmentsMaster's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar analytical field5+ years’ experience in managing, developing, and deriving value from ontologies and taxonomies in a complex and fragmented data environment.Experience with Ontology languages/tools like OWL, Protege, TopBraid etc.Experience developing, deploying and maintaining cloud-native, distributed scalable services in production.It would be great if you also had . . .Experience of the application of ontologies and taxonomies to a range of data domains, including life sciences data, scientific research, and patent contentSome experience with data governance frameworks, their development and implementation in complex environments with large number of stakeholdersA good understanding of how ontologies and taxonomies are used and the benefits they can deliver to business strategy.What will you be doing in this role?To take a lead role in the implementation of the Ontology Governance Framework, including leading Ontology Working Group meetings, working across the business with representatives from the wider technology and products teams within the Life Sciences & Healthcare segment.Create clear guidelines for the dissemination of the Ontologies including input and output procedures, ensuring that the guidelines are adopted and enforcedShape and implement a change management process so there is a clear method for stakeholders to raise change requirements to the Ontologies – implement appropriate service levels for this so that customers see the benefits of changes as quickly as possibleAct as a help desk and point of contact as well as the authority on all matters relating to the Ontologies and be able to get your hands dirtyAs appropriate build an efficient data management and ontology teamPromote awareness of the Ontologies and Taxonomies and their applications throughout the Life Sciences & Healthcare organisationWork pro-actively with the Data Science and Operational team to identify opportunities to automate aspects of using the ontologies and creating models to automatically assign ontology terms to data pointsCreate dashboards and reports that show the use of the ontologies across different datasets and how the data is structured, trends in the data over time and making sure all stakeholders are aware of any major changes to the ontologiesCollaborate with the Data Governance steering team on all aspects of the development, maintenance, and implementation of the Ontologies and TaxonomiesMaintain and proactively develop the Ontology Strategy to ensure that the Ontologies and Taxonomies are maintained and implemented to ensure that the Ontologies are as effective as possibleAbout the TeamYou’ll be reporting to the VP of Content - Life Sciences & Healthcare based in UKWithin the wider LS&H team, our role in Content Operations is to deliver the content, data and intelligence our customers need to advance their success and fuel breakthroughsWe have some of the best and brightest talent in our teams our commitment, experience and depth of knowledge across domains is second to noneActive volunteering community, with 40 annual paid hours of volunteering timeHours of WorkThis role is 35 hours per week EU hours and we offer a full-time permanent contract.
