We are looking for a Content Editor to join our team.  You will evaluate metadata within our system and queries from customers in order to solicit and acquire improved metadata via provider and outsourcer interaction.  If this sounds like an opportunity you are interested in, then we would love to talk to you!About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishmentsBachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience2 plus years of experience working with clients2 plus years of experience working with metadata standards and issues, electronic resource management, or emerging technologiesIt would be great if you also had...Capacity to quickly gaining, an understanding of how the book industry works and the uses of bibliographic data.Proficiency with Excel and Access especially with creating, importing and exporting documents in various file formats.Experience with Windows operating systems and search engines.Proven problem solving and analytical skills.Demonstrated organizational abilities.Willingness to learn new skills as required by changes in work environment.Ability to plan, analyze and solve problems creatively, flexibly, and resourcefully.Ability to work under pressure of deadlines and on multiple projects at once. Client-oriented work ethic and ability to foster a sense of teamwork across all members of the team.What will you be doing in this role?Reviews data requests from customers, which may be in standard report formats or ad hoc requests, researches request against company databases, then outreaches for missing titles and contentConfirms that the account relationships are correctly identified within internal publisher tracking systems so that products correctly lists products as available from the appropriate vendors.Supports product development and sales by outreaching to publishers for enriched content, such as cover images, annotations, and tables of contents, as well as book metadata as necessary to meet customer needsBuilds and manages relationships with metadata providers, including publishers, aggregators, ONIX conversion houses, and other relevant industry players.Tailor outreach plans and communication methods (telephone calls, e-mail, face-to-face meetings, and webinars) by publisher and task based on the urgency of obtaining data and past responsesCommunicates data submission methods to publishers and educate publishers on our value to the supply chainIdentifies most efficient method for applying or loading the data received from outreach including forwarding files for loading to the appropriate staff or outsourcer, keying small corrections, or using upload tools to apply changes within systemsPromotes bibliographic data standards and assist vendors in developing data feeds for ProQuestAnalyzes files to identify areas where publishers can improve data quality and formatArrange FTP accounts for publishers and log FTP details as necessary to ensure electronic, automated submissions as much as possibleRecommends changes to processes and system in order to allow workflow to become more efficientAbout the TeamYou will work in Academia & Government (A&G) sector, within the Book Content Operations area.  You would be part of the Marketplace Engagement and Analysis team.  The products supported include Ebook Central, Books In Print, Data Licensing, and Syndetic.  Internally, you will work with content operations, product management, and sales.  Externally you get the chance to work with publishers, distributors, and customers of book products.  The projects are ongoing.  The Book Content Operations has 43 team members and four subgroups mainly located in Northern New Jersey.  The Marketplace Engagement & Analysis Team has 6 members focusing on analysis and engagement.
