We are guided by the legacy of Dr Eugene Garfield, inventor of the world’s first citation index: we remain true to his principles of objectivity, selectivity, and collection dynamics, but also adapt and respond to technological advances and changes in the publishing landscape.This is an exciting opportunity for someone to further their knowledge of the publishing landscape and to contribute to the growth and curation of the Web of Science.About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments BA./BSc. or equivalent in a relevant disciplineRelevant experience at a reputable HSS publisher, or equivalent academic experience, e.g., PhD in a relevant discipline (Humanities & Social Sciences)Native English or high level of English language proficiencyFamiliarity with the conventions of, and developments in, scholarly publishingKnowledge of how bibliometrics are used in editorial and academic research contextsAble to make data-driven decisionsStrong Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)It would be great if you also had . . . High levels of customer focus, with excellent written and verbal communication skillsMeticulous attention to detail, critical appraisal skills, and proven ability to take ownership of decisionsWhat will you be doing in this role?Evaluate humanities and/or social science journals in line with the Web of Science editorial quality and impact criteriaInvestigate, resolve, and reply to enquiries from editors and publishers regarding coverage and selection criteriaOwn coverage-related decisions and ensure these are completed and clearly communicated to journal editors and publishers according to defined KPIsCollaborate within the Web of Science editorial team to ensure efficiency and consistency of decision makingContribute towards the maintenance and curation of dynamic collections of scholarly journals for indexing in the Web of Science Core CollectionActively participate in team discussions about policy, process, and workflowsKeep up with developments in the publishing industry that could influence Web of Science editorial processesSupport colleagues as needed in ensuring a smooth handover from content selection to content indexingAbout the Team You will be reporting to a Team Leader who is a senior editor in the Web of Science editorial teamWe are a global team of more than 20 colleagues based in USA, UK, Spain, Serbia and IndiaActive volunteering community, with 40 annual paid hours of volunteering timeA modern culture environment combined with all the financial and stability advantages of working for a large businessDigital and office workplace in a central office location (hybrid mode)Hours of Work This is a permanent full-time position at 40 hours a week (35 hours during July and August).
