Job SummaryEquinix Metal, a leading bare metal cloud provider, is looking to grow our software engineering team! If you are an experienced software engineer and looking to help build out services that will affect how the next generation of infrastructure and hardware is delivered to the world, join our team!ResponsibilitiesThis position is in the fleet services engineering team providing all of the services needed to inventory, control, provision and maintain Equinix Metal’s bare metal cloud hardware.  The work will contribute in the areas of hardware, data center and operating system automation.  You should have a passion for solving difficult problems related to servers at data center scale.  On a daily basis you will:Live and breath the developer experience with the platformDeal with ambiguity and drive to the heart of problemsApproach every day with a self-starter attitude and seek solutionsValidate new hardware and firmware configurationsCollaboratively write RFC’s / blueprints that establish our architectureHelp drive software design and improve our system architectureParticipate in on call rotation to support this product team's software in productionDeeply care about technology, our craft and team successAbility to communicate clearly with all stakeholdersQualifications3 years experienceBachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similarExperience with Linux and troubleshooting both hardware and kernel issuesAbility to debug issues with hardware and firmware / root cause analysisGolang or similar programming language fluencyExperience with the git workflowCode samples may be requestedA desire to learnDesirable ExperienceExperience with Equinix Metal / Packet productsDeep knowledge debugging operating system operation and configurationDatacenter technology experience and ability to work on remote systemsKnowledge of modern CI technologies (ex. Buildkite / Jenkins)Knowledge of containerized environments using Docker, Kubernetes or otherNetworking knowledge and the ability to debug networking issuesAvailable for weekly on-call rotationAbility to document workThe targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:• San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $111,000 to $185,000• California (Non-SF/Bay Area), Connecticut, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Washington state: $104,000 to $172,000• Colorado, Nevada, Rhode Island: $94,000 to $156,000Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.This position may be offered in other locations. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your preferred location during the hiring process.The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
