ResponsibilitiesBe responsible for new DC build projects mostly in APAC regionDevelop/improve policies, processes, and engineering standards to achieve consistency and maximize reliability among all Data Center facilitiesProvide technical design review and oversight during all phases of a data center build or expansion activityLead design decision making in a manner that supports the reliability/availability objectives for IBX facilitiesReview commissioning and integrated systems testing plans for all IBX build and major CAPEX projects to ensure systems will function reliably within all operating scenariosEnsure all project closeout tasks are satisfactorily completed to ensure a clean turnover to local site operationsEvaluate new cooling equipment industry offerings for suitability in a critical facilities environment. This may include a new manufacturer/model or a completely new cooling equipment pedigree typeDevelop and maintain design standards and specifications as requiredFacilitate and provide technical support for resolution of complex operating issues through use of disciplined root cause principlesProvide technical support for all mechanical/HVAC system design upgrades or modificationsProvide energy efficient solutions to optimize cooling systemsPerform site MEP audits with a focus of identifying vulnerabilities within critical infrastructureTravel and other assignments as required.QualificationsExpert level engineering/operations skills and experience with HVAC equipment and systems that operate within a critical facilities environmentWorking knowledge in all areas of data center infrastructure (critical power, generators, fuel systems, etc.) is preferredAbility to review complex cooling system designs and provide comments that will enhance overall system reliability, efficiency, and total cost of ownershipAbility to review plant operating sequences and recommend corrections and improvementsStrong teaming and assertiveness skills to properly socialize and “sell” the right decision even if not popular with all stakeholder groups.
