Mentors junior team members and makes strong tactical decisions to resolve project issues. Manages Construction project costs, methods, and project team selection to meet project schedules and goals while working in a multi-faceted environment. Responsible in all aspects of data centre design & construction for respective project from project inception, through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and hand-over of an operating facility, that could include ground up construction, fit-outs, remodels, etc.The project Manager may be responsible for one or more smaller projects or a single, extensive project and will direct all partners, internal (Design, Procurement, Operations, Security and IT/Network, as well as external vendors comprising Contractors, design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers, etc.Responsible for driving a safe, quality first culture, ensuring that all applicable codes, standards, and good construction practices are followed.Ensuring that internal controls are adhered to at each step of the process through effective contract administration including generation, review, management, and monitoring of prime contracts, subcontracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents and documentation.ResponsibilitiesManagementProvides guidance to Construction/Operations Project Managers who are driving the delivery to day-to-day Construction/Operations projects Sets goals for immediate team membersProject ManagementManages one or more smaller projects or single larger construction projectLead by example on safety, standards, and cultureManage and monitor project progress, quality and compliance with building regulations.Ensuring projects are meeting or exceeding company expectationsOverview and management of project risk registersVendor RelationsDirects external vendors per project comprising general contractors, A&E design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers etcContributes to establishing and maintaining high value relationshipsTraining ProgramsSupports in identifying and developing training programsSupports cross-functional trainingContract AdministrationManages contract administration procedures including generation, review, and monitoring of prime contracts, subcontracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents and documentationLiaising with local authorities and relevant State agencies and departmentsLeadershipDirects internal and external project team members including internal Design, Procurement, Operations, Commercial and IT/Network support teamsMentors junior team members as neededPolicy & Procedure DevelopmentManages maintaining best in class policies and proceduresManages project closure, handover and lessons learnt processes are established and implementedQualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent in construction, construction project management and /or Services engineering or with equivalent experienceExtensive experience in project and construction management that will include critical Infrastructure for Datacentre, Pharmaceutical, Bio-tech or similar environmentsAbility and willingness to travelProven experience of project management in a construction environmentCustomer focusSelf-motivated and flexibleIn-depth knowledge of relevant statutory regulations and industry best practiceExperienced in Construction procurement methodologiesIdeally fluent in German and with strong business capabilities in EnglishMS Office including MS Project, Excel and Visio skillsEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
