We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate I/II for our Genome Editing Group to optimize and execute experiments related to the screening/testing of novel gene editing systems. As a member of the Guide Screening team, this person contributes their molecular and cell biology skills to help expedite the characterization of novel enzymes in the pursuit of developing therapeutic products. This role will be based in Emeryville, California.
How you’ll contribute:
Perform routine experiments to screen new genome editing technologies in immortalized mammalian cell lines and primary cells in a high throughput manner
Execute established gene editing SOPs and protocols that involve the following aspects to generate high quality data and present findings to stakeholders:
Cell Culture
Transfection
gDNA extraction
PCR
NGS Data analysis
Maintain complete and well organized documentation of all experiments
Collaborate with Pre-Clinical Therapeutic teams, Discovery, Automation, RNA Biology and NGS to deliver on project milestones and meet anticipated timelines
Prepare accurate and timely data summaries and contribute to writing of reports, papers, and patent manuscripts
What you bring:
BS or MS in biology, genetics, molecular biology or a related discipline required
At least 2 years of relevant experience in a laboratory setting that includes:
Transfecting mammalian cells using electroporation
Experience performing 96-well plate-format assays
Experience analyzing and interpreting NGS data
Excellent time management and organizational skills to keep up with demand of requests coming into the team. Ability to prioritize workload efficiently.
Ability to think strategically, manage time and workflow, and work independently as well as in a results-oriented operations team
Track record of challenging oneself to enhance scientific skills and knowledge
Highly collaborative, solutions oriented, and thrives in a fast-moving startup environment
Preferred additional qualifications
Experience transfecting primary cells using lipofection and/or LNPs
Experience working in a service/support based team, focused on processing requests/orders and reporting results to stakeholders.
California Pay Transparency Disclosure:
This position is classified as an exempt position under the Federal Labor Standards Act. The anticipated base salary range for this position will be $70,000 - $95,000. You will also be eligible to receive equity, bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the position offered. Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company’s sole discretion and may vary based on location, skill level, years and depth of relevant experience, and education.
