This is a remote position that could be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.Reporting directly to the VP of Cloud Platform/Infrastructure, this role provides architectural leadership, strategic oversight, guidance, management and technical delivery for the Calix Cloud Network Data Platform that is foundational for all Calix Cloud Products and Services. The AVP, Cloud Infrastructure will ensure Calix is designing and operating a robust, optimized data ingestion and network access cloud platform that enables secure collection from various network sources through to analytical systems. To be successful in this role, you need to have in-depth technical and architectural knowledge of all aspects of software engineering at scale, designing distributed solutions, in-depth knowledge of big data analytics, and hands-on technology industry experience implementing security by design.Responsibilities and Duties:Provide technical leadership in all phases of software engineering and design.Ensure engineering teams deliver solutions that are highly scalable, secure and are resilient.Hire, train & retain the best engineering talent and leaders to meet market needs.Lead design discussions and coordinate deliverables across multiple engineering teams globally.Work closely with Cloud product line leaders and Cloud product engineering teams to define the Cloud Platform roadmap and seamless integration of the data ingestion solutions into the Cloud Products.Drive design and implementation of common infrastructure solutions for expanding the Calix Cloud network data ingestion ecosystem.Enable and Simplify operational readiness for onboarding customers.Practice modern DevSecOps and Agile methodologies for consistent and efficient delivery. Collaborate with senior leadership to translate new opportunities into an actionable roadmap, track progress, and deliver new product capabilities on-time and on-budget.Champion reliability, performance, and scale of Cloud infrastructure solutions with emphasis on measurable KPIsStay up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices in Cloud infrastructure and data management and apply this to improve the scale, performance, resiliency and reliability of the platform.  Enable broader customer retention by proactively identifying and resolving customer issues.Plan and execute deliverables on time and within budget.Qualifications:Calix requires all employees based in North America who will work onsite at a Calix office, attend in-person meetings, and/or travel on behalf of Calix to be fully vaccinated. Calix will consider requests for reasonable accommodations as required under applicable law.15+ years of highly technical, software engineering experience with at least 5+ years of driving design and development of scalable, distributed cloud solutionsDeep understanding and context of solutions that integrate On-premises / Home platforms / Access systems and Cloud at scale.Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and familiarity with service provider domains – broadband technologies like DSL, Cable, Fiber, WirelessGood understanding data, voice, video services, premise systems – Residential gateways / router and Wi-Fi.The ability to synthesize all inputs from stakeholder engineering teams and develop a crisp long-term infrastructure roadmapExperience leading engineering team with strong technical direction and delivering high quality software on schedule, including delivery for large, cross-functional initiatives.3+ years leading geographically distributed teams to successful delivery of quality solutions.Strong, creative problem-solving skills and ability to abstract and share details to create meaningful articulation.Productized solutions for ingesting large scale streaming data and deep understanding of applicable frameworks/ technologiesExperience designing integrations using API and pub/sub frameworks for event driven solutions.Awareness of data governance, privacy and security guidelines and processes and implementing the related best practices in ecosystem integrations.Proficient in using Cloud platform / services from AWS (or Azure) and in optimizing solutions in those environments for cost.Hands on experience in one or more of the following programming languages - Java, Python, Go or Nodejs.Experience implementing solutions that adhere to best practices and guidelines for different privacy and compliance practices around data (GDPR, CCPA).BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or relevant industry standard experience to match.Location:Remote-based position located in the United States or Canada.#LI-Remote
