About the Legal team Dialpad’s Legal team plays an essential role in assessing risk and protecting the company while advancing business goals. This team collaborates closely with our Sales, Marketing, Finance, Customer Success, and HR teams to improve the company’s overall effectiveness and to manage the myriad legal matters that these teams face. We are an intentionally small, highly competent group of legal professionals focused on velocity, scalability, and rigor to support Dialpad’s continued growth from startup to market leader. Your role Dialpad’s Associate Privacy Counsel will work with the Senior Product and Privacy Counsel to become deeply familiar with Dialpad’s products and their interaction with privacy, data protection, and related regulatory requirements. You will constantly evaluate our legal and technical posture to find ways to shed unnecessary risk while embracing sustainable growth, efficiency, and customer trust. You will act as an advocate for Dialpad’s customers, engineers, sales team, and scientists simultaneously, and find creative solutions for novel legal questions where no templates exist. Under the direction of the Senior Product and Privacy Counsel, you will: Research US and foreign privacy and telecommunications laws for potential impact on Dialpad’s services, including GDPR, US state laws, FCC & FTC regulations, and other relevant sectoral and regional rules Contribute to creating, improving, and enforcing data privacy policies, agreements, standards, and practices that are compliant with global legal requirements, by collaborating with stakeholders throughout the organization Assist in the sales process by consulting on negotiation positions for topics within your subject matter expertise, such as Data Protection Agreements, Business Associate Agreements, and other privacy-related commercial agreements and provisions Prepare applications, filings, and correspondence to regulators in the US and abroad, including licensing, data mapping, and Data Protection Impact Assessments Be a resource internally and externally on complex privacy and data issues emerging from the development and marketing of products and technologies Improve efficiency by building and maintaining resources that turn complex regulations into understandable guidance Skills you’ll bring   J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school License in good standing to practice law 3-5 years of substantive privacy,  regulatory, compliance, and security experience Preferred Qualifications Law firm or in-house experience advising technology or telecommunications clients on privacy,  regulatory, compliance, and security matters Strong research and analytical skills, with the capability to communicate your results clearly and concisely Background in tech-forward lawyering; enthusiasm for telecommunications, SaaS, AI and big data a plus This position reports to our General Counsel and has the opportunity to be based remotely in  North America .
