As Senior Manager, you would be responsible for vision and strategy for how eBay should monetise its platform and will work on some of the largest and most complex elements of science and art that goes behind driving eBay UKs financial performance, while keeping eBay competitive in the online retail market. You will be responsible for partnering with category and country leaders in bringing that strategy to life while ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional value for every shareholder dollar invested. Responsible for promotions, you will be an integral part of this team and will work on some of the largest and most complex elements of eBay’s business strategy, driving financial performance (top and bottom line) and defining the relationships eBay has with its customers and partners representing the firm’s largest source of competitive advantage. You will be responsible for coordinating with the relevant teams managing sellers (Business sellers and Consumer sellers) to ensure the promo plan is aligned to their business strategy and is driving incremental business. You also will have to coordinate with legal, marketing, customer service and analytics team to ensure the promo delivery.The candidate in this role will report into Director of monetization – UK/EU and AU markets, and the team sits within Global Operations and Trust. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate -Strong commercial and business partnership ability, including having UK e-commence domain knowledge, being able to effectively partner with business collaborators to support business growth, and deep understanding of the trade off and levers of revenue managementAbility to oversee and implement pricing process, including effectively managing pricing operations, annual and quarterly planning activities, and project managing strategic and regular pricing activitiesStrategic and analytics capabilities, including strong level of optimisation capabilities and strong through leadership, performance management experience and being able to think and innovate strategically and criticallyKEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Head of Monetisation will work across the full range of Monetisation activities,includingRevenue and Pricing management: Manage core pricing rate card, promotions, and special pricing framework to optimise eBay’s business growth by evolving commercial terms thoughtfully and effectively to hit income financial commitmentsDefine and drive a best-in-class governance and framework for evolving pricing strategy effectively to capture the unique value that eBay provide as a platform, to provide sustainable value for customer segments, categories, and value propositions.Promotion Strategy: Develop and optimise promotional strategy that is aligned with the core pricing principles and drives growth while optimising revenueRegional and global partnership: collaboratively partner with the monetisation global leads, key leads under global operations org, and all other regional teams to create monetization activities that promote eBay’s complete commercial successOperational excellence: project manage marketing, finance, legal, customer service and analytics teams so that promos and pricing changes are accurately implemented as designedPricing and Product innovation: Coordinate with other regional teams and across the eBay matrix to innovate new tools and capability for next generation of pricing capabilitiesEXPERIENCEPotential candidates will have had exposure to a pricing role at a point in their career, but won’t necessarily be in a pricing role now, or indeed be a deep pricing expert. They will however, demonstrate versatility in their career; this may be through having held variety of functional roles and exposure to pricing. Given the nature of eBay’s model, an ideal candidate will have experience of a marketplace, or retail/marketing oriented environment with an understanding of pricing in a C2C (Customer-to-customer, i.e. customers trading with each other) and B2C (Business-to-customer i.e selling products directly between a business and customers) context. Experience and competencies demonstrated by appropriate candidates, would include the following:Previous experience in revenue management and pricing of services, with exposure to designing and managing promotions preferredExceptional analytical thinking skills.Strength in analysing information and comfortable with modelling.Ability to merge qualitative and strategic perspectives with analytics to create balanced recommendations.Ability to manage delivery in a fast-changing, multi-national cross-functional business.Energetic, flexible, and comfortable with dealing through ambiguity in a trust-based, human way.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to present proposals that incorporate the customer impact as well as the commercial impact.Strong attention to detail and experience coordinating with cross-functional teamsBenefits are an essential part of your total compensation for the work you do every day.
