We are in a search for an innovative Distinguished Data Leader who will lead the vision of building a scalable, secure Data Analytics and Insights platform for usage by eBay’s Search, Payments, Risk teams and eBay Business. eBay’s analytics data ecosystem is one of the largest in the world. It houses transactional, behavioral, and financial transactions for eBay’s marketplaces globally. The environment includes technologies such as -data warehousing based on open source solutions and an extract-transform-load (ETL) platform, data machine learning platforms and tools, online experimentation platform, tracking platform, and customer insights platforms. These solutions are also deployed using real-time solutions based on streaming technologies, such as Kafka, Storm, Flink, while other parts of the solution are service based, utilizing mainstay service patterns, leveraging graph technologies underlying the service layer.The person should be able to lead the thought process, designs as well as the implementation of various aspects of eBay’s Big Data ecosystems, creating the future of Data Analytics and Insights. He/she should have hands-on knowledge of building platforms, understanding data and incorporating AI and generative AI technologies to design and innovate “Data as a Service” software architecture, while protecting user’s privacy. We are looking for a visionary individual who can match the vision with execution and disruption of the status quo if necessary. This person will represent the Data organization internally and externally as a technical thought leader, be able to collaborate across and beyond the organization to build consensus and work his/her peers to deliver the solution. If you love crafting elegant solutions to technically challenging problems and building an important big-picture vision, we should talk.Key Technical Responsibilities:Lead thought process and architectural design with good understanding of industry products and positioning to be able to influence right technology stack recommendations.Evolve eBay’s analytical data ecosystems to enable world-class data capabilities, through data and analytics platforms, Generative AI Drive various levels of technical decisions from systems, services, algorithms to operations and processesWork closely with multiple engineering teams on detailed designs and implementations to deliver end productsCommunicate effectively with client teams inside eBay to collect requirements and drive adoption of new technologiesDrive operational and engineering excellence into all facets of data engineering and software developmentLeadership Skills Lead with influence to resolve conflicts, build consensus across organization and across eBayApply hands-on subject matter expertise in the Architecture of Big Data platforms, and experience with ML and Data Science platforms.Lead with humility and compassionRequirements:10+ years relevant experience in quantitative research and analysis, with a focus on data analytics, platform architecture and AI/ML/NLPProven ability to design and lead time-sensitive strategic projects involving methodology development, analysis, strategic recommendations, and presentation of findings to different stakeholdersDeep background in AI, analytics, and big data platform developmentAbility to "help break complex" migration problems from one stack to new stack with precise milestones minimal impact to customers is a big plusExperience working closely with engineering teams to build platform capabilities spanning multiple channels (PC, mobile, tablets) a plusHands on familiarity with Deep learning tools such as pytorch, Tensorflow, Sagemager and knowledge of AI architectures and Large Language Models LLM Nice to have:Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, NLP, or similarExperience with ML Ops systemsA drive to keep up and build on cutting edge researchGithub links to their code on AI and contribution to open source authoring#LI-RW1The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York City is expected in the range below.$206,400 - $332,750Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave).
