Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.  Role Summary: In this role, the engineering manager will guide a team of engineers responsible for developing high performance and optimized mechanical components for a variety of vehicles.  The type of components involved would be ECU’s, sensors, switches, haptic modules, acoustic alert devices, displays etc. In addition, your team would design the mechanical components required to mount / support them, such as brackets, grommets, injection molded parts, and coordinate the integration into vehicles. Responsibilities:  Manage and mentor a team of mechanical engineers responsible for design of a variety of electrical hardware components for Rivian vehicles. Drive and maintain Rivian work culture throughout the organization Drive focus in team to optimize designs for key figures of merit including performance, size, weight, cost, reliability, and quality. Guide professional development for engineers across their career spans Work in multidisciplinary teams and drive product and engineering excellence Manage resourcing and staffing plans for supporting multiple vehicles and products on roadmaps. Build and maintain best practices for 3D & 2D documentation, design reviews, ideation, prototyping, and validation. Own the design process for mechanical components and continuously drive improvements to optimize for robustness and speed. Provide subject matter expertise in areas including material selection, connector design, structures, thermal design, etc.   Qualifications:  Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering 8+ years of experience in mechanical product design and engineering 4+ years of leadership experience Experience with 3D CAD, CAE, and PLM systems. Experience developing and leading other multidisciplinary engineers Understanding of Engineering Work flows and process Work remotely with engineers across all sites to drive progress and clear road blocks. Travel as needed to drive progress   Salary Range California-Based Applicants: $189.000 – $217,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
