You will report to our Engineering Manager and you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.
We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer specializing in Deep Learning with a passion for using data and AI to enable our customers to be more productive. You have a solid foundation in deep learning at enterprise-scale and have demonstrated technical leadership.
You Will:
Build and deploy machine learning (ML) models using large image and video data sets in production at enterprise-scale
Evaluate, recommend and integrate AI or ML solutions into our product using any combination of vendor solutions and custom built models
Provide technical and architectural, direction and leadership for data team consisting of data, ML and software engineers
Be a thought leader within Smartsheet regarding the incorporation of Generative AI and other AI into our product
Work with Generative AI, Image Segmentation and Classification, CNNs (Convolutional Neural Networks), Facial Recognition, Transfer Learning and Model Fine Tuning
Work with Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, Airflow, Spark, TensorFlow or PyTorch
Support data and insights delivery through the data warehouse, web application, API and reporting
Forge a strong partnership with other software engineering teams, product management, UX designers and researchers, as well as, other key areas of the business
You Have:
10+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent
5+ years of machine learning experience
2+ years of deep learning experience in solving Computer Vision problems
Image processing expertise
Python and SQL expertise
Experience deploying models to production as part of a customer facing product
Experience with multiple of relational databases, data warehouses, data lakes
Experience mentoring and leading through influence
Strong data analysis and data science skills
A keen interest in creating pragmatic and delightful solutions to our customers’ problems
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience

Smartsheet provides a competitive range of compensation for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive bonus and RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: $167,400 to $243,000 | All other US States: $155,000 to $225,000.
