Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. What You’ll Do
Design printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) for Archer’s Battery Management System (BMS), an integral part of the energy storage system (ESS) powering Archer’s FAA type certified eVTOL airtaxi.
Lead all phases of design, including schematic capture, layout, routing, symbol and footprint creation, generation of Gerber files, assembly drawings, and other required PCB fabrication drawings and files.
Design multi-layer and flexible PCBs using industry standard techniques (IPC), ensuring consideration for Design for Manufacturing.
Contribute to overall process and workflow development between engineering and design.
Support PCB bring-up, validation, system validation, and manufacturing at scale.
Create and release documentation for PCB fabrication.
What You Need
BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
3+ years of experience designing and verifying complex electrical circuits
Experience with high voltage battery systems and BMS electronics
Experience using schematic capture (e.g. Altium Designer or Xpedition) and circuit simulation software
Detailed knowledge of PCB design rules including IPC-610 / 2221 / 2222
Design for manufacturing processes: soldering, component bonding, and conformal coating techniques
Full life cycle development from layout to manufacturing
Ability to perform lab work (prototyping, soldering, building) and PCBA rework
Excellent organizational, communication, and troubleshooting skills
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with new product development in regulated industries (e.g., aviation, medical devices)
Python/Matlab or C/C++ programming skills
Knowledge of FAA aircraft certification requirements for Part 23 aircraft
Experience with DO-160G and DO-254 standards

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $108,000 - $135,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
