About the Role: You will spend your time developing tools and algorithms to analyze audio and video assets, determining best methods to generate highest quality media using the lower bitrates, assessing and architecting methods to automate video quality checks in our custom-built video processing engine. Then, through experimentation and online A/B tests of your design, you will fine-tune transcodes for each device to ensure the right trade-off between perceived video quality and bandwidth. At times you will be called in to help debug production CDN streaming issues. Responsibilities: Design, build, and maintain high-performing video processing engines to generate video-on-demand assets, including: parsing/analysis transcoding packaging media to industry-standard streaming formats Research workflows, codec implementations, and technology stacks for integration and deployment to our internal scalable processing pipelines  Perform video quality assessments and optimizations with the goal of improving content and context aware encoding techniques  Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and product teams to deliver new video properties in unique use-cases Your Background: You are deeply passionate about flawless playback on everything from high-end set top boxes to hardware constrained devices in low bandwidth environments. 5+ years of experience with C/C++ specifically in multi-threaded programming 5+ years of experience working with video, using ffmpeg/libav, USP, shaka, and AWS Elemental Media Services Deep understanding of video quality and video playback performance metrics Experience with streaming protocols like HLS and DASH Experience with video compression standards such as H.264, HEVC, and others Working knowledge of DRM technologies (Widevine, Playready, Fairplay) Bonus: Previous experience using Elixir Experience with newer codecs such as AV1 #LI-Remote #LI-MQ1 Colorado and Washington (excluding Seattle, WA) $171,000 — $202,000 USD Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements , the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is listed annually below.
