Position Summary
Adept is seeking a strong engineering manager or director who can help us transform the foundation models we have been building into a product that knowledge workers will love to use. In this role you will be responsible for our product, build and lead a team of engineers, collaborate with existing technical leads, and guide the vision at Adept.
The ideal candidate is someone who has a passion for making highly-polished end user products, has experience building something from 0 to 1. and has a proven track record of leading and developing engineering teams. Adept is a product company, not a research lab, so this role has tremendous scope.
What You'll Achieve (Responsibilities):
Build and manage a fast-growing team of software engineers across several disciplines (frontend, backend) and product form factors
Serve as a technical sounding board for the team, and coach and develop the engineers and managers on your team
Identify the critical path to take and ensure we are making the right bets
Provide career development opportunities and ensure teams are able to execute to their maximum potential
Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders such as other engineering teams, design teams, and product teams, to ensure we are building a world class end user product
Skills You'll Need to Bring (Qualifications):
Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of building, managing, and developing high-performing teams
At Adept, we care that our leaders remain technical, so we’d like to see a strong grasp of the underlying technology. No ML experience needed, though.
At least 5 years of experience in software engineering, including at least 3 years experience in management.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with design, product, recruiting, etc.
A true focus on incredible end user experiences! Bonus points if you've built a product for knowledge workers.
A passion for how people engage with technology.
An interest in building tools that improve human capability and creativity.

This role reports to David Luan, CEO.
The pay range for this position in California is $300,000 - $350,000yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, candidate location, and experience.
