EMPLOYER NAME: TripAdvisor, LLC   POSITION:   Senior Data Scientist - Pricing   WORKSITE: 400 First Avenue, Needham, MA 02494   POSITION DESCRIPTION: Own the algorithms exposed on the website and which maximize business objectives; collaborate with machine learning to improve the user experience; support company products by adding additional features on the site; perform data analytics to investigate trends and identify opportunities; analyze supply to make sure we are operating an efficient marketplace; monitor traffic efficiently increase revenue across all channels; provide weekly and monthly management-level reports, synthesized from numerous sources, focused on measurable impacts; focus primarily on our sort and recommendation algorithms; build solutions to solve quickly concrete business challenges; be creative and efficient in the modeling approach (find the simple logic that solves most of the problem); interact with many teams to support stakeholders’ projects but also owning your own initiatives; out Lead data science projects from concept to implementation: data exploration, modeling, productizing & coordinate work for deployment and integration; lead the achievement of one or more of the team’s most important objectives; improve the team’s models and processes; provide stewardship and act as team expert for several of the team’s most important models, pipelines and areas of expertise; form strong relationships with partners across the business to get things done; work with other teams to review project specifications and schedule project work; and, work with other teams to develop new, or enhance existing, products and opportunities. Telecommuting permitted up to 60%.   REQUIREMENTS: Position requires a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Hospitality & Tourism or a related field plus two (2) years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Experience must include the following: Demonstrable experience coding in the Python ecosystem for statistical and numerical programming, including Numpy, Scipy, Pandas and/or Scikit-Learn; Demonstrable experience writing complex SQL queries; Demonstrable knowledge of data structures and algorithms; Demonstrable experience deploying models in production and clear point of view on best practices in this area; Demonstrable experience with MVP and Iteration approach; Demonstrable experience using data science to solve pricing problems; and, Demonstrable experience utilizing scripting languages for automated web data collection, big data processing, statistical modeling, and large-scale model testing.
