VirtualHealth is seeking a Vice President and leader for our Engineering organization. We are in an expansion mode for our fast-growing company which requires increasing our leadership team across many areas of the business including technology and delivery.
The Vice President, Engineering is expected to work closely with executives leading other functional departments to develop and execute our vision and strategy in the second decade of our company. This role will be responsible to meet the Company’s objectives for product development, delivery to customers and upsells and cross sells of the platform offers. The candidate should be able to drive to the VirtualHealth innovation agenda from a technical perspective in partnership with the CEO, COO and CRO. The successful candidate must be capable of assuming leadership of a large, distributed R&D team, directing it to reach progressive milestones in a cost effective and timely manner.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Vice President, Engineering will:
Provide the technical leadership that designs, develops, verifies and validates new products/technologies appropriate for the care management and utilization management industry in the United States.
Collaborate closely with all functional areas necessary to aggressively advance products from proof-of-concept through development, validation, product launch and support.
Manage the R&D process for the business. This includes Product and Technology Development for the entire portfolio and the full product lifecycle, managing the R&D investment, facilitating prioritization and developing a strategy for partnerships to optimize product development. Must develop, communicate, and drive delivery of an engaging product, technology, and innovation roadmap that delivers on the marketing vision.
Develop and drive talent management strategy for R&D. Lead talent management of the R&D organization, including coaching managers and team leaders. Attract and retain highly talented R&D engineers. Develop talent requirements and assume responsibility for planning, recruiting, training and motivating team members.
Ensure product development aligns to support customer environment needs and that evolving customer needs and strategies are understood and accounted for in product and technical roadmaps.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports To: CEO
Direct Reports: Directors of R&D, Director of QA &Director of DevOps
Other Key Relationships: The executive leadership team is your peer group which includes CEO direct reports in Sales, Marketing, Finance, Customer Delivery and Customer Service. This position is a highly visible with customers and must have the executive presence to instill confidence within the C-suite of our customer base.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have a proven record of product development and leadership in the healthcare IT industry with a minimum of 15 years of experience and at least 5 of those at a senior level leading a large team with a software and solutions product portfolio. He/She should be comfortable with the execution of all aspects of product development including design, development, and maintenance of F500 customers as well as mid market companies.
The candidate must have solid R&D experience in software and systems engineering, employing modern, lean product development methodologies across large multi-disciplinary teams.
The candidate will have a reputation and record of effective collaboration with peers, subordinates and superiors as well as outside advisors and customers. The candidate will have earned an undergraduate degree, preferably in engineering. An advanced degree will be advantageous.
The candidate will have a BS Degree in Engineering with an MBA desirable.
