Job Title: Quantitative Analyst, MIPS
Job Intro:
As Verana Health reinvents how research happens with data and technology in the healthcare space, we are growing our Quantitative Sciences team to solve complex real-world problems across multiple therapeutic areas. We are looking for an Analyst that will work closely with our initiative focused on Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). For the IRIS Registry (ophthalmology) and Axon Registry (neurology), Verana enables compliance with MIPS reporting standards, which are care quality measurements required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This individual will assist with writing and maintaining measure calculation queries as well as validation and troubleshooting of data quality issues.
This role will report to the Manager of the MIPS Quantitative Sciences Team. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Verana Health is looking for a Quantitative Analyst with an interest in health data analytics to help us with MIPS measurement development and maintenance (50%) and investigating data quality (50%).
Responsibilities
Be a hands-on individual contributor on the Quantitative Sciences team
With oversight from manager and/or senior members of the team, write and validate measure calculation queries for MIPS reporting to align with CMS and registry specifications
Partner with manager to draft communications with external registry partners from the American Academy of Ophthalmology American Academy of Neurology to ensure accurate measure implementation
Engage in code reviews and other quality assurance processes
Ability to troubleshoot complex code through rigorous and systematic analysis
Analyze provider-level and patient-level data to debug customer facing issues
With support from senior members of the team, collaborate cross-functionally with teams (e.g., Product, Practice Experience, Medical, Engineering, etc.) to translate measure specifications into data analytics requirements for projects
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s in a quantitative discipline (e.g., biostatistics, data science, epidemiology, etc.) and 1 - 2 years of relevant experience OR Master’s in a quantitative discipline (e.g., biostatistics, data science, epidemiology, etc.)
Experience in data processing tasks (biostatistics, epidemiology, and/or data science)
Experience with scripting language for repeatable data analysis, Python or R
Experience with querying large datasets using SQL
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Clear communication skills and able to deliver internal presentations
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with high attention to detail
Strong problem solving skills and curiosity to learn
Bonus Experience
Familiarity with big data analytics tools and frameworks, PySpark, Map-Reduce
Familiarity with clinical datasets and coding systems such as ICD, CPT, and RxNorm
Familiarity with git and version control best practices
Experience working in AWS cloud computing environments
Hands-on experience with messy health data (e.g., claims, electronic health records, outcomes data) and analytical methodologies

We construct our compensation ranges based on the US national average but your pay may vary depending on your location and the cost of living index for that geographic area.
