Come join us if you like to tackle big problems and make a meaningful difference in people's lives.   About the Role: To support Upgrade’s continued growth and scale, the Principal DevOps Engineer will work across our Infrastructure teams to help set architectural direction and engineering alignment. Be a part of a team that tackles complex infrastructure challenges related to scalability and resiliency. You’ll be integral in strengthening our cloud infrastructure that will enable other engineering teams to build and ship new features and services to production more effortlessly.   Our Tech Stack: Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTracing/OpenTelemetry, Terraform, Ansible, GitOps, ArgoCD, ArgoRollouts, Jenkins, Java, Groovy, Go, Python, VPC, EKS, ECR, EC2, LB, S3, Route53, ElasticSearch, DMS, WAF, Akamai, Postgres, MSSQL, DynamoDB, Redshift, Kafka What You’ll Do:  Partner with cross-functional teams and technical leads in the development of architectural strategy for our underlying infrastructure to meet the objectives of our growing business Contribute to technical decisions to build and evolve our infrastructure, while ensuring it’s scalable, secure and resilient Lead critical org-wide projects that affect different parts of the technology stack (i.e. both infra and application layers) Provide forward-thinking solutions to complex infrastructure-related problems and proactively address production issues Define and own the technical roadmap, multi-year architectural strategy, and engineering standards that will guide Upgrade through the next phase of growth Champion and improve operational best practices What We Look For: 15+ years of progressive experience in building cloud architecture Previous experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment Expertise in AWS and hands-on experience delivering cloud-native capabilities on AWS Strong understanding of microservices architecture Experience with Kubernetes (1.20+) and containerized applications In-depth understanding of systems, networking and troubleshooting techniques Knowledge of cloud monitoring, logging and cost management tools 5+ years of experience in one of the following programming languages: Java, Python, Go Demonstrated ability to balance long-term objectives with urgent short-term needs Ability to influence and build effective working relationships with all levels of the organization Excellent communication skills with an ability to explain complex technical ideas with clarity and precision Good design skills in systems architecture and database schema Nice to Have: Experience with other IaaS platforms (GCE, Azure, etc.) What We Offer You:  Competitive salary and stock option plan 100% paid coverage of medical, dental and vision insurance  Flexible PTO Opportunities for professional growth and development   Paid parental leave Health & wellness initiatives #LI-Remote  #BI-Remote We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
