What you’ll do:
The Payroll Lead is responsible for overseeing the payroll function, including day-to-day operations to ensure accurate and timely payroll and payroll tax filings. This position should have a clear understanding of business policies and procedures and employ a continuous improvement mindset for all activities and processes.
Maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
Ensure processing checklist/SOP is followed, as appropriate
Ensure compliance with payroll tax filings and related returns, issuing W-2 forms accurately and within established deadlines
Provide coaching to team on payroll processes
Work with Workday Support and People Ops to ensure accurate system calculations and reporting
Partner with People Ops to Identify opportunities for process simplification and automation
Ensure company SOPs are built, continuously reviewed, and updated
Partner with accounting to ensure the Payroll GL is continuously updated and successfully interfaces with NetSuite
Serve as primary liaison between Payroll and Finance to resolve any issues with reconciliations
What we look for:
7+ years of experience in a payroll position
Knowledge of Workday system
Experience issuing W-2 forms
Multi-state payroll experience required
Canada payroll knowledge a plus
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Business Administration, or related field/ commensurate experience
Nice to have:
Strong understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws, regulations, and processes
Proficient with Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize activities
Strong customer service focus
Attention to detail and confidentiality requirements a must
Excellent analytical skills
Ability to deal effectively with customers of all levels within the organization
