Senior Financial Analyst, Space Systems

Senior Financial Analyst, Space Systems
Based in our Long Beach, California headquarters, the Financial Analyst, Space Systems will provide critical support to the Space Systems finance and executive leadership in all aspects of financial management for the business unit, with a heavy focus on project management and overtime contracts in Rocket Lab’s satellite (Photon) business. This position requires the ability to maintain accurate P&L forecasting, cost accounting, reporting, and analyses in a complex manufacturing environment.
The Financial Analyst, Space Systems will report to the Senior Director of Finance & Strategy for Rocket Lab’s Space Systems business, and partner closely with accounting, supply chain, engineering, and finance counterparts throughout the organization.
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO
Leveraging historical data and spending trends, provide analyses related to new Space Systems business opportunities in terms of profitability and risks
Build and maintain a component cost database to maintain efficiency and accuracy across current and future satellite contracts
Collaborate with IT and other functional leaders to support efficient and accurate consolidation and reporting of monthly cost and revenue forecast updates across Space Systems business units, including both components and overtime contracts
Support monthly revenue forecasting activities for components businesses
Build, maintain, and analyze standard cost models for Space Systems components
Support acquisition integration activities
Execute strategic initiatives to meet long-term financial targets
Consolidate, maintain, and provide analyses related to short- and long-term financial projections, department budgets, and cash flow projections
Initiate process improvement projects to update transactional, financial, and reporting processes.
Provide ad hoc analytics
YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in finance or a directly related field, MBA preferred
5+ years of Financial experience working in a Manufacturing environment, preferably within the aerospace and defense industry
Strong computer skills utilizing MS Office especially advanced Excel skills
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex project management information to others
Strong analytical & independent problem-solving skills to evaluate operations activities and financial impact to project cost
ERP experience using Adaptive Planning and Infor LN (or similar ERP system)
Understanding of OH rate development and structure
Experience with Financial system implementation/integration
Strong skills to analyze variance, attention to detail
Organizational skills and ability to prioritize cross-functional requirements
The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. In addition to base salary, Rocket Lab offers a comprehensive total compensation offer package based on individual qualifications and experience, including company stock. Employees will also be eligible for medical, dental, vision coverage, 401(k) retirement plan options, and to purchase discounted stock through Rocket Lab's Employee Stock Purchase Program. Pay Range (CA Only) $95,000 — $145,000 USD
