About the role Our launch safety operator is responsible for supporting a comprehensive launch capability for Rocket Lab that ensures public and staff safety, and is robust, flexible, and maximizes launch availability. The role works as part of a diverse crew preparing for and during launch and facility operations. The roles interacts with many external stakeholders - public, commercial, and government agencies - understanding their constraints and motivations, and maximizes cooperation through engagement and deft application of available authority. Essential skills A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a marine or port traffic management, air traffic control, naval surveillance and management, or role demonstrating equivalent capabilities and experience Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team Demonstrated ability to manage a wide variety of first- and third-party vessel, aircraft, or equivalent traffic movements over a wide area Experience in high-pressure, time critical public safety management environments Demonstrated experience delivering results in fast-paced commercial projects Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral, including a demonstrated ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner Desired Skills Tertiary qualifications in an engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience Tertiary qualifications in safety and/or risk management New Zealand maritime radio, GPS, and radar operator certificates or equivalent Rocket Lab Employee Benefits The opportunity to work on innovative and groundbreaking technology An employee stock purchase program Access to world leading experts to develop your career Unlimited barista coffee, fruit, and snacks Rocket Lab merchandise – T-shirts, mission patches etc. Discounted health insurance with Southern Cross Additional parental leave entitlements A vibrant team culture with social activities throughout the year If the above sounds like you apply now!
