About the Role:     As a Licensing and International Trade Compliance Analyst for Planet, you will be a member of our Legal team and will have the opportunity to work on issues that may have large compliance and/or financial implications for the company.  You will routinely interface with engineers, management, local and international personnel, as well as external counsel and vendors.  You will provide general support of attorneys, consultants, and paralegals in areas of economic sanctions, export controls, customs, and other areas of global trade compliance.  The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with great judgment and attention to detail, and at least 1 year of experience in global trade compliance.  You will have an appreciation of business processes and risks. Impact You’ll Own: Preparing export licensing documents Analyzing hardware, software, and services for export classification Reviewing export control requirements for manufacturing lab visitation Assisting with the drafting and review of internal processes and procedures Assisting with preparing and conducting compliance trainings for employees Coordinating with engineering, launch and manufacturing teams to manage shipments Drafting and preparing filings for government agencies, including license applications, regulatory notifications, and scheduled reporting Reviewing, clearing, and escalating automated flags for global trade compliance screening Record-keeping retention and organization Ensuring compliance with FCPA and global privacy requirements, conducting enhanced due diligence as needed Coordinating with hiring managers and HR teams to ensure proper export compliance for new hires Analyzing economic and financial sanctions for implications to Planet’s global business What You Bring: Must be a U.S. person B.S. or B.A. required Excellent communication (oral and written); problem solving skills and the ability to deal with people of all levels At least one year of previous paralegal or regulatory/government compliance experience Experience reading and interpreting regulations is required Self-starter, works independently, knows when to ask questions High level of concentration, accuracy and attention to detail A careful, methodical approach and the ability to cope with some repetitive tasks Ability to take responsibility and demonstrate initiative Computer skills - expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint What Makes You Stand Out: Experience in sanctions compliance and/or in export control and customs issues (knowledge of immigration filings and processes would be beneficial as well) Experience in a legal environment Previous experience working with engineers or in a technical/aerospace environment Experience of working in a fast-paced startup environment Benefits While Working at Planet: Comprehensive Health Plan Wellness program and onsite massages in specific offices Flexible Time Off Recognition Programs Commuter Benefits Learning and Tuition Reimbursement Parental Leave Offsites and Happy Hours Volunteering Benefits Compensation: The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is $60,900 - $100,100 .  Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity).
