We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual for a scientist position focused on optimizing and executing experiments related to verifying the specificity of novel gene editing systems as an integral member of the Genome Editing team. Candidates should be enthusiastic, curious, and have the desire to change the world. This role will be based in Emeryville, California
About the Role
The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include:
Lead and perform experiments to test new genome editing technologies in immortalized and clinically relevant mammalian cell lines in a high throughput manner
Perform in vitro molecular biology to assess specificity of enzymes
Analyze complex data sets and recommend next steps
Gather and analyze experimental data
Present at external scientific meetings
Prepare accurate and timely data summaries, contribute to writing of reports and present findings to key stakeholders
Other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
Ph.D. in biology or a related discipline with relevant research experience
Experience with genome-editing technology
Experience with chromosomal rearrangements and translocation analysis
Excellent organizational skills and both oral and written communication skills
Track record of challenging oneself to enhance scientific skills and knowledge
Ability to think strategically, manage time and workflow, and work independently as well as in a results-oriented research team
Preferred additional qualifications:
Hands on experience with gene editing technologies in mammalian cells
Experience with next generation sequencing technologies
Experience working in a cross collaborative team including bioinformaticians and project managers
The anticipated base salary range for this position will be $115,000 - $145,000 depending on the exact level of the role. As this role is open to candidates with a wide range of skills and experience, the exact salary will be dependent on the specific level of the position.
