Job Description:
The Hardware Engineering department at Magic Leap, Inc. is seeking a summer intern with experiences in product development, engineering data collection and analysis. The Mechanical Engineer Intern will work under the direction of engineering staff to design, build, and test prototype components and/or fixtures. They will create drawings, assemble and modify parts, and operate test apparatus to collect and analyze data in accordance with specifications. The ideal candidate will be a Junior/Senior/Graduate level college student in Mechanical Engineering with experience in Creo CAD modeling, technical aptitude to design fixtures and prototypes, excellent communication skills, critical thinking, and a high desire to learn in a fast-paced consumer product environment.
This internship will begin in June 2023 and requires physical presence at Magic Leap's headquarters in Plantation, Florida.
Responsibilities
Applies engineering theory and practical knowledge, under the direction of engineering staff, to design, build and test prototype devices and/or fixtures
Drawing creation outlining preliminary part specification, requirements, fabrication, purchase, assembly, and test plan
Assemble and modify parts and related components of the prototype and/or fixture to prepare for testing and measurement
Setup and operate a prototype and test apparatus. Including testing, observation, recording and analysis of test data in accordance with specifications
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have experience with Creo CAD modeling
Must have the technical aptitude to design fixtures and/or prototypes and the ability to perform data collection with quality measurements
Must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization
Ideal candidate must demonstrate critical thinking, analytic problem solving skills and working knowledge of statistics
Possess a positive attitude and a high desire to learn in a fast-paced consumer product environment
Education
Junior/Senior/Graduate level college student enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering field of study
