About the Job
As our VP Finance/Controller, you will be an integral part of Life360’s finance leadership. Reporting to our Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will be entrusted with accurate and timely internal and external financial reporting and trusted partner and advisor to many internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for the strategic oversight and execution of the accounting function which provides financial metrics to judge performance to key areas of the business. As such, the function should be able to adapt to rapid growth and scale and be forward-looking to get ahead of foreseeable risks.
As a manager of a growing accounting team, you are as passionate about people leadership as you are about your craft. The successful candidate will also prioritize building and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, while demonstrating excellence in communication.
The salary range for this position is $280,000 to $320,000. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary- therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.
What You’ll Do
Manage core accounting function, including internal reporting, accounting operations, Consolidations, Banking/Treasury, and Taxes
Lead the consolidated general ledger activities, including the review of journal entries and account reconciliations
Ensure transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed and supported in accordance with company policies, generally accepted accounting principles, and SOX controls
Full cycle responsibilities for P2P, Fixed Assets, Payroll, Indirect Revenue and assist with Taxes
General responsibility for NetSuite, system, reporting, module and process improvements - with focus on automation to improve closing process effectiveness and accelerate close timetable. Work closely - and substantially influence - the internal cross-functional Netsuite review group
Responsible for managing the close process and flux analyses
Own monthly internal reporting working with FP&A, including creating flux analyses, commentary and presentation materials for Board meetings. Optimize internal reporting to concisely meet the informational needs of all stakeholders
Responsible for external reporting including accuracy and completeness, liaising with external accountants and attorneys, securities filings with ASX and SEC and liaising with the Audit & Risk Committee (“ARC”)
Own cash flow forecasting including short term forecasting and work closely with FP&A on longer term forecasting
Develop talent with the Accounting group - hire, manage, and develop team members, provide develop opportunities especially for high performers and provide a path for other staff. Continuously review and adjust organization of department to optimize effectiveness
Liaise with consultants to mitigate control deficiencies and work towards management certification of internal controls under Sarbanes Oxley requirements
Liaise with auditors to facilitate quarterly review process and completion of review of internal controls as part of interim procedures, so that year end audit proceeds without issues
Supervises treasury functions including management of bank accounts, investments and banking relationships, ensuring compliance with internal controls, the Company’s table of approval authorities and approved investment policy. Supervise company credit card administration
Prepares, maintains and supervises enforcement of the Company's table of approval authorities
Responsibility for Company’s insurance coverage including regular review of coverage and maintaining relationships with brokers, insurers and underwriters
What We’re Looking For
10+ years of senior financial experience
Meaningful experience at a nationally recognized public accounting firm and history of progressively more senior roles in commercial environments, preferably with consumer technology and recurring revenue focus
Deep experience with US GAAP external reporting, preferably in a public company reporting environment.
Familiarity with scaling up accounting groups to deal with multiple revenue streams, reporting for several stakeholder groups and compliance with control and regulatory requirements including Sarbanes Oxley
CPA or equivalent
Collaborative business partner to the CFO, FP&A, executive and other internal groups, as well as external customers and partners.
The ability to devise practical solutions to issues rather than running through a check-list.
Exceptional business judgment, people management and analytical skills, and critical, strategic thinking with demonstrated success working as a team player in a fast-paced environment
Strong emotional intelligence (EQ) with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and customer base
