Hardware Test Engineer

We are looking for smart, creative and passionate people who love to learn, enjoy thinking critically, share our values and want to build a great and enduring company.  The Focal Systems Hardware team is responsible for architecting, designing, prototyping, and scaling critical hardware products to expand the hardware ecosystem needed to enable fully autonomous AI-driven stores. What we are looking for We build top-notch products to help digitize the full store from the front to the back that we utilize to help our clients optimize their store operations. As the Hardware Test Engineer, you will be responsible for drafting and executing the product testing and validation plan. You will report to the Director of Hardware and work very closely with our Mechanical, Firmware, and Electrical Engineering teams. What you will do •    Provide test application training and support to Operation Technician Teams •    Help to analyze product manufacturing quality issues, conduct failure analysis, and perform RCAs •    Look for opportunities & implement test process optimizations at Functional & System level tests to drive cost reductions, quality and deliver improvements •    Working with design engineering to develop test programs, test methods, and test plans to verify designs and qualify manufacturing processes •    Designing, assembling, and debugging automated test fixtures •    Writing and debugging code for automated test fixtures •    Participating in design failure mode analysis to help identify high-risk areas for test •    Participating in overall risk analysis to help determine the correct priority order for test execution •    Writing test plans and executing these plans or ensuring that they get executed in a timely manner •    Analyzing test results and author design verification test reports What you need to be successful •    Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years of experience in an HW Test/Validation Role. •    General knowledge of other related disciplines – Software and Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering •    Experience using and programming Test equipment such as Anritsu 8820, CMU-200, Agilent 8960, Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Power meter, oscilloscope •    Experience with LabVIEW or other programming languages or scripting such as C++, C#, Java, Python •    Good analytical skills and written communication skills  •    Experience in working on zero-to-one product development at scale is strongly preferred •    Able to work in our SF office 3 days per week •    Startup mentality and willing to work 40+ hours a week Why Focal Systems Strong Values and Mission: We are a tightly-knit team with an ambitious mission and a strong set of core values, which define our approach to business and have successfully guided us since in¬ception.
