Cloud Database Engineer

Wherever you are, whichever role you play, you’re guaranteed to share your day with committed, encouraging, and resourceful team members.    The Data Infrastructure team is rapidly growing and is adding an engineer to lead the design, development, administration and monitoring of our core database systems. Our primary database is a relational database, but we are extending our data footprint to include a NoSQL data store. You will support the day-to-day production operations as well as utilize automation to maintain and apply changes, through infrastructure code. You will: Manage highly scalable database systems using AWS RDS PostgreSQL, DocumentDB . Administer and provide on-call support for production database systems Automate database configurations through infrastructure code Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues Develop and practice disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity Support security and compliance requests across database systems You should have: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. Must have 3+ years in a DBA or Data Infrastructure role, with 2+ years in cloud hosted infrastructure, specifically AWS . Experience using shell and python to automate tasks Experience in writing and optimizing SQL statements Experience with infrastructure automation using Terraform or Cloudformation. Knowledge and experience in Postgres replication and High Availability . Hands on experience with backup and recovery procedures . Strong Monitoring and optimization of the database performance . Experience with monitoring tools like DataDog, Grafana, and New Relic. Good to have experience with Amazon Cloud Services like AWS DMS, S3, CloudWatch Good to have experience with Kubernetes and Docker .   About Flexport: We believe trade can move the human race forward. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range displayed, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and / or training. The US base salary range for this full-time position: (exclusive of bonus, equity and benefits.) $165,400 — $183,750 USD
