We are seeking a talented Backend Software Developer with Java, JVM expertise, and Spring Boot experience to join our team and help us build the next generation of electric vehicles and their supporting systems.
Responsibilities:
As a Java Software Developer, you will be responsible for:
Designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance Java applications to support Rivian's electric vehicle fleet.
Leveraging JVM expertise to optimize performance, memory management, and scalability of software components.
Implementing and maintaining Spring Boot based microservices, ensuring seamless integration with other systems.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams (including firmware, hardware, and cloud engineers) to develop cohesive, end-to-end solutions.
Participating in code and design reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and industry standards.
Troubleshooting and resolving software defects, ensuring the highest level of quality in our software products.
Keeping up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in Java and JVM technologies, and proactively implementing improvements to Rivian's software stack.
Mentoring junior developers and contributing to the growth and development of the software development team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Java software development, with a focus on JVM optimization and performance tuning.
Strong experience with Spring Boot and developing microservices.
Knowledge of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and JSON.
Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and non-relational datastores (e.g., Dynamo, Redis).
Familiarity with message brokers (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka, Kinesis) and event-driven architecture.
Experience with source control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools (e.g., Jenkins).
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the automotive or electric vehicle industry.
Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Scrum, JIRA).
