Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.  Role Summary: As a Sustaining Reliability Laboratory Technician -Drive Unit working at Rivian’s Normal Illinois test facility, you’ll work with Sustaining Reliability Team to build, maintain, and operate laboratories for testing electrified powertrain systems, electric vehicle systems and component reliability. Responsibilities: Attend daily stand-ups and team meetings Maintaining dynamometer test systems for development and validation testing of electrified powertrain systems (drive units, gearboxes) Work closely with powertrain test engineers to install, configure, and maintain test properties across a variety of complex powertrain test equipment Disassemble and reassembly of prototype hardware Troubleshooting failures Perform routine maintenance and laboratory upkeep Run tests and collect high quality data Documenting daily work Provide ‘first pass’ data analysis Provide guidance to engineers and data team Creating standard operating procedures (SOPs) Qualifications: Must have domain knowledge: Knowledge of equipment for laboratory testing (Associates degree in a technology field or relevant experience or 2+ years tech experience) Knowledge of Powertrain systems Familiarity with test cells and/or large dynamometer systems Knowledge of instrumentation and data collection Proficiency with hand and power tools Proficiency with computers Workplace safety concepts Must work in a team environment and communicate with engineers and fellow technicians Timeliness, dependability, and willingness to work off-shits when required Bonus: Experience in a reliability testing High volage certifications Proficiency with high and low voltage electronics Familiarity with electric vehicles Experience with environmental chambers, chillers, power supplies, digital multi-meters, vibration tables, data acquisition modules, torque transducers Experience with manufacturing and quality processes Equal Opportunity Rivian is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local fair employment practices laws.
