Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. What You’ll Do
Lead electrical and software integration of Archer’s Battery Management System (BMS), an integral part of the energy storage system (ESS) powering Archer’s FAA type certified eVTOL airtaxi
Bring-up battery systems from prototype bucks to mass production
Test and troubleshoot electrical and software interfaces, providing direct feedback to part owners
Work with the ESS team to ensure functional and performance requirements are met
Work with Avionics, GNC, and Software teams to ensure interface requirements are met
Specify test milestones and create test plans to support integration of the ESS into the aircraft
Specify test resources and equipment necessary to perform internal testing
What You Need
BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
5+ years of experience in a related field
Demonstrated experience in developing product from start to finish
Knowledge of high voltage circuit protection, insulation standards, and safety regulations
Experience with industry standard communication protocols (RS-422/485, CAN, Ethernet, SPI)
Experience with both digital and analog signals
Familiarity with CPLD, FPGA, and microcontroller operation
Knowledge of lithium-ion batteries, DC fast chargers, electric motors, and DCDC converters
Able to troubleshoot circuit diagrams, hardware, and software and propose solutions to root cause issues
Able to use variety of mechanical (crimping, soldering, connector systems) and electrical (DMM, hipot, isolation tester, network analyzer) tools
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with high voltage battery systems
Experience with new product development in regulated industries (e.g., aviation, medical devices)
Knowledge of FAA aircraft certification requirements for Part 23 aircraft
Experience with DO-160, DO-178C, and DO-254 standards
Experience with ARP4754 development process
Experience with ISO 26262, ISO 15118, SAE J1772 standards
At Archer we aim to attract, retain, and motivate talent that possess the skills and leadership necessary to grow our business. We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $148,000 - $185,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
