What the Role Is Babylist is hiring Software Engineer III's to join our engineering organization. You'll work on systems that power a $1B+ GMV marketplace, serving over 700k families and over 10 million users annually. Our engineering teams build everything from advertising platforms and commerce tools to registry systems and health products. The work spans:
Revenue & Growth: Build the systems that drive Babylist's business forward. Work on advertising partnerships with major brands, commerce features that convert browsers into buyers, lifecycle marketing campaigns that engage millions of users, and growth experiments that unlock new revenue streams. Your work directly impacts GMV and company growth.
Product & Experience: Create the tools that families rely on during one of life's biggest transitions. Design and build registry systems that help expecting parents organize their needs, shopping flows that make discovery delightful, health product experiences that support new parents, and customer-facing features used by over 700k + families annually. You'll see real people benefit from what you build.
Platform & Infrastructure: Strengthen the foundation that powers everything at Babylist. Develop developer tools that make your teammates more productive, core services that ensure reliability at scale, monitoring systems that keep us ahead of issues, and foundational systems that enable the company to move faster. Who You Are
A high-performing engineer with 4+ years of experience delivering end-to-end solutions that drive business growth
You thrive in a quickly growing environment and are excited to lead business-critical projects to unlock new capabilities
You have experience testing, monitoring, and running production software systems and are focused on continuing to grow your skills
You are a talented programmer with React and Ruby on Rails experience (or similar tech stack experience like Python/Django or Javascript/Node.js with strong desire to learn Ruby on Rails) and are excited about further developing your craft and quality of work
You have a passion for identifying gaps in team processes or execution and love driving impactful improvements
You're adaptable and open to working on different types of problems, from revenue systems to customer-facing features to infrastructure
Past experience in e-commerce, consumer growth marketing, adtech, or marketplace systems is a plus but not required
You pay close attention to detail

How You Will Make An Impact
Provide leadership around process, tooling, systems, and software architecture. We benefit from more knowledge and learning how others solve problems. You will feel excited to bring in new ways of solving problems.

About Compensation
We use a market-based approach to compensation. The starting salary range for this role is: US: $156,040 to $187,248
Canada: $178,300 to $193,100 CAD
Your starting salary will be based on your location, experience, and qualifications, with increases over time tied to performance, role growth, and internal pay equity.
