Job Requisition ID #25WD92252Position OverviewThe intern will join our AI and geometric modeling research team to explore how large language models (LLMs) can be enhanced with tool-augmented reasoning for generating high-quality 3D CAD/BREP objects. Reporting to a senior ML/geometry engineer, this role focuses on integrating LLMs with geometry kernels (e.g., OpenCascade) to produce valid parametric designs, leveraging retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) for design reuse, and developing iterative refinement strategies to ensure manufacturability and geometric correctness. The intern will work at the intersection of generative AI, computational geometry, and CAD automation. ResponsibilitiesInvestigate how LLMs can interface with CAD geometry kernels (e.g., OpenCascade) to generate valid BREP and parametric 3D modelsDevelop tool-augmented reasoning pipelines that enable LLMs to call geometry APIs, validate shapes, and repair or refine generated modelsExplore retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) using prior CAD models, part libraries, or design templatesImplement iterative refinement and adaptive test-time compute methods to enforce geometric, functional, or manufacturing constraintsEvaluate generative outputs across metrics such as accuracy, validity, manufacturability, and similarity to relevant design priorsPrototype end-to-end workflows for turning natural-language descriptions into CAD/BREP objects using LLMs + external toolsDocument research findings and develop actionable recommendations for integrating LLM-generated CAD designs into downstream engineering workflows Minimum QualificationsCurrently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computational Geometry, or a related fieldStrong understanding of deep learning and/or LLMs, with experience in model prompting, fine-tuning, or tool augmentationExperience with Python, and familiarity with geometry processing, CAD APIs, or libraries such as OpenCascade, or similarKnowledge of RAG, multi-step reasoning, or program-synthesis-style workflows is a strong assetAbility to work with structured geometric data formats (e.g., BREP, STEP, parametric constraints) is preferredStrong problem-solving skills and interest in applying generative AI to real CAD/engineering settingsAbout the Canada Intern ProgramThe 2026 Canada Internship program runs for 16 weeks (May 4th – August 21st). All internships are paid. As an intern, you will contribute to meaningful projects, be mentored by industry leaders, and participate in tech talks and other activities designed to support your personal and professional development.
