We specialise in developing tools that facilitate payments during construction projects. This is your chance to lead a team working on a software stack and contribute to making software that supports the construction industry in streamlining payment processes and ensuring financial efficiency for their projects.As a Software Development Manager, you will oversee the development and maintenance of web services that provide best-in-class workflows. You will have the opportunity to influence the design and architecture of our services, manage and mentor a team of engineers, and contribute to the overall success of the product.Our software stack is predominantly Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript. As our services evolve, we are becoming more of a collaborative platform, and are often exploring ways to share functionalities across many teams. If you enjoy leading both technical and strategic initiatives and working with customers as well as other teams across Autodesk, this could be a great role for you. This is a hybrid position in Melbourne, and you'll report to Senior Manager, Software Development.Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of developers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environmentDefine technical specifications and develop/refine innovative workflows for customers to efficiently manage payments during construction projectsWrite and review technical specifications for new features, and document architectural decisionsBreak down medium-term initiatives into interim milestones and tasks, and help with tracking progress and achieving goalsCollaborate with designers, product managers, and other developers to deliver high-quality productsOversee the maintenance and enhancement of our team’s cloud infrastructure (built on top of AWS)Mentor junior developers, guiding their professional progress and expertiseMinimum Qualifications 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or managerial roleStrong understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologiesExpertise in data structures, algorithms, and an ability to analyse their performanceExcellent written and spoken communication skills; ability to explain and discuss technical decisions and trade-offsExperience with dev-ops practices and tools such as Amazon Web Services and DockerExperience in modernising a legacy codebase, and understanding the challenges that come with itA continuous improvement mindset, with a desire to enhance both the customer and developer experienceDemonstrated empathy and respect for coworkers, with strong team-building skillsPreferred Qualifications Experience with JavaScript, Node.js, and TypeScriptExperience working with or building strict design systemsInterest or background in computer graphics (through coursework or side projects)Passion for driving developer culture and sharing knowledge through tech talks and presentationsExperience in the construction industry or a strong interest in applying technology to improve construction processes#LI-CL1Learn MoreAbout AutodeskWelcome to Autodesk!
