Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.  Role Summary: The Infotainment team is building an immersive in-vehicle digital experience through which our consumers not only interact with their vehicles but also connect with the outside world to enjoy hands-free entertainment and communications. Come help build the Rivian In-Vehicle user experience, encompassing vehicle controls, navigation, media, charging, among many other live customer facing features.   In the Vehicle Software team, you are primarily responsible for the design, implementation, testing and shipping of high-quality software for multiple programs. In this role you will:   Fully own a part of the software stack for Rivian Infotainment applications   Develop a high-performance engineering culture; engage and manage a team of application developers focused on building Rivian’s in-vehicle experience.   Lead software architecture, design, and code reviews with cross-functional teams in an open and collaborative manner while following best software engineering practices   Plan, create and maintain complex software schedules for multiple programs   Create and execute work streams for Agile SW development teams based on program needs   Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in Hardware, Software, Test, and vendors in identifying dependencies and effectively remove bottlenecks   Anticipate and identify risks, develop actionable mitigation strategies that sets up the team for success   Provide leadership by reframing problems when the team is faced with ambiguity, obstacles/deadlocks and steer them towards solving prioritized problems   Expertly manage stakeholder expectations for both technical and non-technical issues, when the team encounters challenging issues or obstacles   Qualifications:  Passionate about building solutions that help accelerate the world transition to sustainable transportation solutions   BS in Computer Science or Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related technical fields   7+ years’ experience managing software development teams of five or more people   7+ years of software development experience (Java or Kotlin preferred)   Excellent critical thinking and experienced in managing trade-offs when defining solutions   Strong technical knowledge of Android application design   Proven technical leader who can take full ownership with proactive attitude   Excellent communication, organization, and collaborative skills    Preferred Qualifications:  Experience leading small teams 7+ with a view to this growing as the organisation scales Deep knowledge of several subsystems of Android OS   Equal Opportunity Rivian is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local fair employment practices laws.
