Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.  Role Summary:   The Sr. Remanufacturing Technician will be responsible for the disassembly and reassembly of selected Rivian powertrain and electric components returned from Service Centers. This cross functional role is responsible for the evaluation and inspection of returned components and reporting your findings to Engineering teams. As a Sr. Remanufacturing Technician you will be working with Remanufacturing Engineering team to evaluate processes for efficiency, provide feedback about ergonomic and safety conditions, and providing feedback to create quality in our remanufactured products. To be successful in this role, you must have a customer-first approach, thrive in ambiguous and unexpected environments, tackling all challenges with a creative and flexible mindset.   Responsibilities:   Primarily responsible for evaluation of field return parts by performing visual, mechanical, and electrical inspections   Embody a collaborative team spirit in an ever-changing environment – working with field service, production, and product development teams to strengthening organizational learning    Actively support and help develop remanufacturing processes, launch, ramp, and future deployments   Perform detailed inspections, document issues, prioritize and escalate to the appropriate assignee   Accurately and clearly communicate detailed steps taken to verify issues   Support cross-functional teams to identify and determine the root cause of issues   Perform part receiving tests, repairs, and end of line tests – at all complexity levels   Support campaign and containment activities   Perform work in accordance with standard methods, while identifying continuous improvement opportunities that do not compromise quality or safety   Occasional travel to manufacturing facility and support production activities as necessary     Qualifications:   High School Diploma or GED   Automotive Technology Degree preferred, certification, or equivalent automotive diagnostic and troubleshooting experience   Two to four years as an Engineering Technician, Diagnostic Technician, Automotive Technician or mechanical or electrical production experience   Fundamental understanding about the primary functions and inspection of mechanical power transmission (gears, bearings, lash, lubrication, etc.) and knowledge of EV powertrains preferred   Fundamental understanding of high and low voltage electrical circuits, including electric motors and high voltage battery architectures   Fundamental understanding of CANalyzer, network topologies   Ability to identify various types of mechanical gear and bearing wear   Understanding of proven troubleshooting techniques for both Low and High voltage circuits using a DVOM and other diagnostic tools   Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings is valued   Verbal and written communication utilizing digital workplace reporting tools (Jira, Confluence) and organizational skills (5S)    Detail oriented with the inclination to stop and consider the big picture where necessary   When necessary, able to convert to a production-oriented mindset and to meet output requirements.   Ability to travel domestically up to 50% of the time throughout 2023   Ability to support alternate shifts and work schedules if needed   No drug or alcohol related driving incidents in the last 3 years   No more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 years   Must have a valid driver's license in the state of residence that you will be driving/operating a vehicle   Will be subject to continuous Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring   Minimum age of 21.   No driving related suspensions or revocation of Driver License (within a 3-5year period).   Ability to read and speak fluent English   Ability to stand for 8-10 hours per day   Frequent use of hands to handle or feel material during quality inspections and performing day to day responsibilities   Occasionally required to climb, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch   Required to communicate using telephone and/or e-mail   Ability to read, view, and interpret documents such as safety rules, SOPs, and repair instructions   Ability to lift 50 lbs.   Ability to perform all duties in a working environment that may contain dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather Must be available to work flexible hours and shifts; 1st and 2nd Equal Opportunity Rivian is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local fair employment practices laws.
