Role Summary
As a Lead EHS Specialist, you will lead the environmental, health, and safety (EHS) implementation of EHS programs in a commercial growth region. The position will coordinate cross-functional teams through meetings and progress measurement activities which continuously improve the environment and health and safety of our employees. The position will be expected to guide programs within local, state, and federal frameworks, laws, and regulations. The position will be expected to deliver business results through effective program/project planning, governance, change management, communications, and training. In addition, this position requires continuous improvement in workflows by collaborating with cross-functional teams to assist in streamlining the processes. The individual will act as the internal and external subject matter expert to ensure EHS compliance requirements are understood and maintained during change management and ensure that critical issues are addressed appropriately and timely.
Responsibilities
Stay open and seek to understand the unique risks of each function and location
Complete routine site inspections to ensure compliance is maintained
Leads incident investigation as the first point of contact
Ensure compliance with OSHA Reporting and recordkeeping requirements
Act as a primary regional trainer
Coordinate compliance-related inspections, events, and other activities
Support the opening of new commercial sites throughout the Eastern region
Come together to communicate with multiple teams of diverse experiences and skillsets internal and external to EHS teams to build cross-functional organizational knowledge and understanding of EHS programs consistent with other locations or areas of the business.
Ensure adequate record-keeping and document management is maintained at the site level according to regulations and/ or to the extent deemed necessary by the organization in order to demonstrate fulfillment of regulatory requirements and/ or the needs and expectations of interested parties.
Educate others on hazard identification and control solutions.
Establish high-quality relationships with the operations site, regional leadership, vendors, local authorities, people partners, facilities management, and other support teams
Analyze data and review incident trends
Understand complex regulations, and be able to communicate requirements to groups with diverse interests and backgrounds.
Travel to various locations as needed up to 25% of the time
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience/certification required with demonstrated prior work experience relevant to this position.
Minimum of 5+ years of work experience in the environment, health, and safety field.
Excellent Communication skills
Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques.
Must be self-motivated and organized
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural, team-oriented environment.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to solve practical problems while demonstrating adaptability
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Proficiency in Benchmark / Gensuite & SharePoint is a plus
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
