Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.  Role Summary   The Future Programs team exists to expand the definition of Electric Adventure Vehicle with new product and ecosystem solutions. We are specifically focused on addressing local transportation and the outsized impact towards Keeping the World Adventurous Forever that comes with disrupting short, high-emission trips. Responsibilities Join a cross functional team with the mission of developing a new light electric vehicle product line. Work with cross functional engineering team on high quality hardware development applying engineering excellence. Collaborate with cross functional peers including system, hardware, software, controls, mechanical and thermal engineers to ensure that testing meets all design and performance requirements. Design various types of custom electrical hardware including component selection, schematic capture and PCB layout. Working in both the left and right side of the V diagram product development process as necessitated by the phase of the project (design vs validation). Troubleshooting, debugging and failure analysis of different electric systems. Working with vendors on component sourcing, testing and evaluation. Support developing and executing test plans and test procedures for vehicle level as well as component level including BMS, Inverters etc. Help documenting and maintaining requirements and validation status in requirements database tool. Be the point of contact between own team and other cross functional groups within Rivian to achieve collaboration and efficiencies across the company. Qualifications 3+ year track record of electrical engineering accomplishments, curiosity, continual learning and “system level” thinking Excellent collaboration, communication and influencing skills. Experience working in small to medium size teams that provided exposure to a broad set of technical challenges. Experience with circuit simulation tools and have strong circuit modeling skills. Proficiency in schematic capture and layout. Proficiency with common protocols and their HW implementation (CAN, USB, SPI, I2C, SENT, LIN…). Strong understanding of common digital and analog EE systems, MCU platforms, sensors, control theory and embedded software. A hands-on experience in electrical engineering lab environment using scopes, probes, multimeters, power supplies. Experience with basic SMPS, understanding tradeoffs between different topologies. Experience working with CMs on manufacturing, sourcing, and validation tasks. Experience working in power electronics environment including, high current, power supplies (1kW+), electronic loads, batteries is a plus. Accomplishments in taking new products through mass production launch is highly desirable. Formal electrical engineering education, B.S. minimum, higher preferred. Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
