Role Summary
This role is for a Manager on our General Assembly Pilot Team. The main objective of the pilot GA team is to deliver test assets to different teams and verify the main line production sequence and processes ahead of integration on the main assembly line.
As the Pilot GA Manager, you will manage a team of highly skilled technicians to build the new generation of Rivian product. You will be responsible for the build team performance output, resource allocation to specific task and affectation of resource to keep high efficiency and limit downtime. You will need to be agile in the way you operate and allocate resources to the build and help define the process that increases that agility from a build standpoint and collaborate with every other supporting function within that pilot location. This role is based in Irvine, CA and reports directly to the Director, Manufacturing Engineering, Pilot Builds.
Responsibilities
Lead a team that assembles the DVB vehicle, in Irvine (CA).
Make a critical impact as you work with plant operations and manufacturing leaders and team members, drive continuous improvements, and meet and exceed quality, cost and other goals.
Leverage your strong training and mentorship skills to manage and develop teams while also driving process improvements and serving as a change manager where needed.
Have the autonomy to make key contributions combined with the support of other managers.
Have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and/or pursue advancement in our global organization.
Ensuring the assembly of quality products at or below budgeted production costs to meet marketplace demand.
Developing departmental plans and priorities.
Leveraging your Lean Six Sigma and analytical skills to identify gaps and implement process improvements.
Supporting build lead and technician.
Team/department performance results.
Partner across the Manufacturing Engineering and Plant Operation to ensure smooth transition of DVB to MVB and SSOP.
Manage multiple builds simultaneously to support successful vehicle launches, managing plans, tasks, risks, resolution, communications, and implementation.
Coordinates resources, provides clear direction and timelines for deliverables, and delegates tasks across teams.
Ensures shop floor organization, production, safety, and department 5’s.
Proactively and regularly develops and manages build leads and techs performance and capabilities, based upon company KPI’s.
Provides leadership and training to accomplish plant/company goals and objectives.
Qualifications
7+ years working experience in Manufacturing environment (preferably Automotive).
3-5+ years Manufacturing Supervisory Experience (preferably automotive).
5+ Years of experience in General assembly Operation, EOL.
Must have a good understanding of manufacturing procedures and practices.
Experience with lean and flexible manufacturing.
Process and detail oriented.
Understanding of labor budgets, KPI's, and efficiency reporting.
Excellent communication skills with ability to coach and mentor.
Proven ability to work independently, managing large, complex projects or teams across a distributed organization.
Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external partners.
Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and navigate through an ambiguous environment; enjoy challenges.
Ability to deliver results through influence without authority.
Highly organized, with good time management skills and acute attention to detail.
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $150,000.00 - 173,000.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
