Role Summary:
The Sr. Manager, Factory IT Operations role at Rivian exists to strategize, define and drive the roadmap for all the functions of the IT Infrastructure Operations team running the 24x7 vehicle production facility at our plant in Normal, Illinois. The person best suited for this role will be able to drive cross-functional teams to successful operation.
Responsibilities:
Develop a strategic plan to manage, maintain, monitor, and support two high-traffic datacenters. Datacenter management experience is critical for this role.
Assist in providing expertise and advice to the senior leadership regarding continuous improvement measures to maximize uptime and efficiency across the production environment.
Manage department budgets and project budgets, including forecasting and annual planning
Provide ongoing leadership, coaching, and mentoring to the direct reports and rest of the Infrastructure Operations team.
Strategize and support resource allocation, tactical and strategic planning activities within the Infrastructure Operations organization
Promote innovation, evaluate emerging technologies and create solutions to address business needs and minimize cybersecurity risk
Define the governance model for the successful delivery of the IT Infrastructure services to our customers
Define and promote IT Service Management & Operations Management (ITSM & ITOM) processes and procedures – Incident and Major Incident Management, Change and Problem Management, Service Request & Knowledge Management, CMDB, and Service Mapping
Oversee the local IT Infrastructure Operations group responsible for all network and compute devices/software, including back-end systems within the datacenters and lineside systems supporting all vehicle production shops.
Socialize the Service Level Agreements (SLA), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Experience Level Agreements (XLA) to the senior leadership team and the business
Develop strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure clear communication of the business needs and delivery of high-quality products/services
Promote automation of onboarding, offboarding, account provisioning, software deployments, and many other production-related processes by leveraging IT Infrastructure technology and process standards to deliver a world-class service to mitigate security risks
Champion the testing practices to ensure software updates don’t negatively impact critical business services
Develop and maintain effective business partnerships and influence decisions around the implementation of the IT Infrastructure Operations services
Collaborate and align with members of the information security and other IT peer groups, business units to ensure factory IT operations meet user requirements and business needs
Qualifications:
14+ Years of experience with managing a combination of datacenter, network, compute, storage, and telecommunication systems and operations
8+ years of leadership experience in managing a high-performance IT Operations team
Bachelor’s is required for this position, and a Masters degree/MBA is preferred

Experience with: Datacenter operations, Incident/Change/Problem Management, Desktop Support and Asset Management Operations, EUC toolset - ConfigMgr (SCCM), Jamf (Casper), Active Directory, Windows Upgrades, Group Policy, Application and Desktop Virtualization (VDIs), Mobile Device and Applications Management (MDM/MAM), Windows/OS Migration/Upgrades, Office365 Suite Support, Exchange Administration, Level 3 escalation support, DNS, NTP, DHCP, LDAP, wired and wireless networking
Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization – Business Stakeholders, Senior Managers, and C-Level Execs
Passion for Customer Support – A drive to help end-users get what they need to do their jobs the best they can. A sense of satisfaction from assisting end-users in getting what they need on time
Prioritization Skills – The ability to analyze support requests and prioritize them based on impact
