Role Summary
As a Sr. Software Manager at Rivian, you will lead the teams responsible for understanding where the robot is and calibrating the sensors on the robot. This position will manage teams that develop, deploy and maintain the algorithms for online odometry, and global localization as well as offline estimation of pose and registration of data. Additionally, you will manage the teams responsible for calibration of all Rivian vehicles for both test and production, during the manufacturing process, during service and while the vehicles are in operation.
Responsibilities
Lead a team of software engineers to design and develop state-of-the-art pose and calibration algorithms
Build, grow and retain talent, providing leadership, technical direction, and career growth opportunities
Set a cohesive technical roadmap for your teams, that incorporates the latest state-of-the-art methods.
Deploy algorithms for approved features to the production embedded platform
Define KPIs and report metrics to verify algorithms meet performance requirements and safety goals
Root cause and resolve issues
Evaluate and support sourcing efforts for sensors on future vehicle programs
Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders in systems, perception, controls, simulation, prediction, planning, embedded, hardware, and test validation teams
Qualifications
MS. or Ph.D. in Electrical/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics or a related field
6+ years of experience in a combination of state estimation for pose, calibration, GNSS, SLAM and related technologies.
3+ years of experience in lead role
Broad experience in autonomous vehicles or robotics that you can leverage to set help set the technical direction for the team
Extensive experience in software engineering, ability to manage SW teams and dive into the details as necessary
Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment
Team player with great communication skills
Passionately motivated to take ideas from R&D to production
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $230,000.00 - $264,000.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
