The Role: We are seeking a Backend Engineering Manager (Integrations) to lead a team responsible for building and maintaining mission-critical integrations across Arine’s platform. This leader will manage a group of engineers working in a Python-based AWS Lambda environment, driving integrations with external systems (mail, fax, SSO, EHRs) and ensuring Arine’s core services interoperate smoothly with partners and customers. You will be both a people manager and a technical leader—mentoring engineers, shaping technical direction, and occasionally contributing code to guide architectural patterns and quality standards. What You'll Be Doing: Team Leadership & Strategy Lead, mentor, and grow a backend engineering team focused on integrations Define technical direction, best practices, and quality standards for integration services Partner with Product and Clinical teams to translate integration needs into scalable solutions Integration Ownership Oversee development and maintenance of Arine’s Mailroom service, including connections with multiple third-party mail providers Manage the Faxroom service, integrating with multiple HIPAA-compliant fax providers Drive customer SSO integrations, including federated user provisioning with AWS Cognito and other identity providers (Okta, Azure AD, etc.) Lead efforts for EHR integrations, with a particular focus on Epic and other leading health record systems Guide API development aligned with FHIR API standards, ensuring interoperability with payer and provider systems Architecture & Delivery Ensure services are secure, reliable, and performant within Arine’s AWS Lambda environment Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability for integrations to meet SLA and compliance needs (HIPAA, HITRUST) Work with DevOps and Security teams to ensure best practices in IAM, Secrets Management, and PHI handling Who You Are and What You Bring: 7+ years of backend engineering experience with Python 3+ years of engineering leadership/management experience Deep experience building integrations with external systems in healthcare, fintech, or similarly regulated environments Strong knowledge of AWS serverless architectures (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, EventBridge, DynamoDB) Hands-on experience with SSO and identity federation (SAML, OIDC, AWS Cognito) Familiarity with EHR systems and HL7/FHIR standards Track record of building secure, scalable APIs and services Preferred Skills: Prior experience integrating with Epic via APIs or Bridges Knowledge of healthcare compliance frameworks (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2) Background in event-driven or microservices architectures Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor engineers at different seniority levels Why Join Arine?: Mission-driven company improving healthcare outcomes at scale Collaborative culture emphasizing mentorship, growth, and technical excellence Modern tech stack with opportunities to influence architecture and direction Competitive compensation, equity, and comprehensive benefits Remote Work Requirements : An established private work area that ensures information privacy A stable high-speed internet connection for remote work This role is remote, but you will be required to come to on-site meetings multiple times per year. The salary range for this position is: $170,000-190,000/year.
