The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing engaging learning experiences for employees across the organization. This role focuses on instructional design and Learning Management System (LMS) administration to support employee development, onboarding, compliance, and career growth initiatives. The Instructional Designer collaborates with stakeholders to ensure training content is effective, up-to-date, and aligned with business goals. Expected Duties: Work with the Employee Training and Development Partner and other business resources to conduct needs analysis to identify learning objectives and appropriate training design Develop storyboards, scripts, and prototypes for computer-based learning content. Design instructional materials, including instructor-led training, job aids, and assessments. Apply adult learning principles and instructional design models to create effective learning experiences Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) from across the business to gather content, ensure accuracy and that the learning meets outlined objectives. Perform quality assurance on learning materials for clarity, engagement, and accessibility. Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and analytics; recommend improvements. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in instructional design. Manage courses in Learning Management System (LMS) Key Responsibilities Instructional Design & Development Conduct needs assessments in partnership with the Employee Training and Development Partner and business stakeholders to identify learning objectives and appropriate instructional strategies. Design and develop engaging learning content including eLearning modules, instructor-led training, job aids, and assessments using instructional design best practices and adult learning principles. Create storyboards, scripts, and prototypes for digital learning experiences. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather content and ensure instructional accuracy and relevance. Apply accessibility standards and inclusive design principles to all learning materials. Perform quality assurance reviews to ensure clarity, consistency, and learner engagement. Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, learner feedback, and performance metrics. Recommend and implement improvements to enhance learning outcomes and user experience LMS Administration Manage and maintain courses, learning paths, and user data within the Learning Management System (LMS). Monitor course performance and learner progress using LMS analytics and reporting tools. Troubleshoot LMS issues and provide technical support to users as needed. Ensure compliance with eLearning standards such as SCORM and xAPI. Support LMS upgrades, integrations, and configuration changes in collaboration with IT and vendor partners. Stay current with trends in instructional design, learning technologies, and LMS capabilities Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Career-development professional within the subject area Requires moderate skill set and proficiency in the subject area Ability to conduct work assignments of increasing complexity under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience Teamwork attitude, flexibility, and ability to manage different responsibilities/priorities at the same time Preferred Skills Proficiency in eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of SCORM, xAPI, and other eLearning standards. Experience with LMS administration, including course setup, user management, and reporting. Knowledge of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning theory. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Base Salary range is $64,500 - $91,100 (It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range.) The actual salary will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law including geographical location.
