Wachter is accepting applications for Low Voltage Traveling Lead Project Technicians for project work at various locations across the United States. Candidates should have experience leading jobs with data, voice, alarm, video, and paging systems. This position will require extensive travel – the candidate must be available to fly to job sites away from home for up to 8 weeks at a time and may have as little as 1 week of downtime between jobs. Experience leading teams of techs on multi-week projects. Knowledge and experience with CCTV, Security Systems, and Alarm Systems is a plus. Knowledge and experience with Point-of-Sale systems, TV/monitor and media player installations is a plus. Industry-specific certifications are a huge plus (BICSI, Siemon, Panduit, Belden, Corning). Duration and schedule of hours will vary daily. Example: Some days will be 0-4 hour shifts, while other days shifts could be 10-14 hours. Shifts can occur in early mornings, nights, and weekends depending on the customer’s requirements and scope of work. Flexible and willing to work on-call, early morning, day, night, and weekend shifts depending on the requirements of the job. Willing and available to travel, road warrior. Regional travel approximately 6-8 hours from home requiring hotel stays. Expect to be on the road for 2-3 weeks at a time. Experience reading blueprints and site maps. Experience in conduit installation is a plus. Able to install, terminate, and test CAT6 and multimode fiber. Knowledgeable in identifying independent colors and learning color codes. Ability to work in cramped spaces. Ability to operate a BOOM or scissor lift and work at heights. Has basic telecommunication tools, PPE, and reliable transportation with required insurance coverage. Must have knowledge of cabling infrastructure. Proficient with the use of smartphones, personal computers, including email, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office programs. Excellent customer relationship and communication skills; verbal and written. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; no DUI or DWI in the last three years. Responsibilities: Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various cabling infrastructure. Run low voltage cabling in commercial buildings, including drilling concrete walls and limited conduit work. Ensuring all cables are neatly tied and bundled according to safety regulations. Installing of cable support structures such as j-hooks, cable racks, and innerduct. Repairing cable poles and towers. Conduct tests to ensure all newly installed cable systems and component devices are operational. Troubleshoot issues with cable networks to ensure the proper functioning and to ensure the system meets local, county, state, or federal codes; legal and/or insurance requirements. Adhere to all required project safety requirements as set forth by Wachter, our customers, or OSHA. Provide regular updates to Project Management on project status and current objectives.
