We are deeply committed to quality in everything we do.As a Sr Director of Quality Engineering, you will be at the helm of a team of skilled Test Automation Engineers, guiding them in the relentless pursuit of excellence across Workday's suite of Applications.Collaborating closely with leaders in Development, Product Management, and Quality Assurance, you will spearhead the planning, design, and execution of automation testing strategies. Your role will be pivotal in championing efficient processes and methodologies that drive the seamless integration of quality into every facet of our products.Responsibilities:Lead and Inspire: Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of quality and automation engineers. Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.Define the Vision: Develop and implement a long-term strategy for Quality Engineering that aligns with our product roadmap and business objectives. Champion a well-rounded view of quality that includes functionality, performance, security, and reliability.Embed Quality: Partner closely with leaders across Product Engineering to embed quality principles and practices throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from ideation to production.Drive Technical Excellence: Guide the architectural direction of our test automation frameworks and infrastructure. Promote the adoption of modern tools and techniques that enable development teams to test their code efficiently and effectively.Champion Data-Driven Quality: Define and analyze key quality metrics (KQIs) to provide clear, actionable insights into product quality and the health of our engineering processes. Use this data to guide strategic decisions and investment.Operational Leadership: Own the budget, resource planning, and operational execution for the Quality Engineering department.About YouBasic Qualifications:10+ years experience in Software Quality with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role (Director level or above) managing managers and individual contributors.Deep knowledge of test automation architecture, modern CI/CD practices, and a variety of testing methodologies (e.g., unit, integration, E2E, performance, security).Experience running engineering and software teams that build tools, libraries and frameworks.Experience with cloud platforms.Strategic approach - demonstrated ability to think and implement a strategic roadmap for a function.Other Qualifications:"Shift left" experience, implementing strategies that empower developers.A passion for coaching, mentorship, and developing talent. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
