Job Requisition ID #25WD89963Position OverviewAutodesk is seeking a skilled and pragmatic Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) to join our Platform Services and Emerging Technologies team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of database administration and site reliability engineering, with a strong focus on MySQL and PostgreSQL operational excellence.You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, scalability, and security of our cloud-based database infrastructure, while also contributing to broader SRE practices such as observability, automation, and deployment. You will support critical systems that power Autodesk’s platform services across AWS and Azure.ResponsibilitiesOwn and operate MySQL and PostgreSQL databases (both self-managed and cloud-managed), including schema design, query tuning, replication, backups, upgrades, and failover strategiesMonitor and optimize database performance, availability, and capacityAutomate database and infrastructure operations using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or custom scriptsParticipate in on-call rotations and lead incident response related to database and platform issuesImplement security best practices, including encryption, access controls, and audit loggingCollaborate with developers and platform engineers to support data-heavy applications and ensure reliable deploymentsContribute to reliability engineering efforts across CI/CD, monitoring, and infrastructure as codeMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experienceExperience managing MySQL and/or PostgreSQL in production environmentsHands-on experience with AWS RDS, Aurora, or Azure Database for MySQL/PostgreSQLDeep knowledge of replication, backup/restore strategies, and disaster recovery planningStrong SQL optimization and performance tuning skillsFamiliarity with site reliability engineering principles including SLIs, SLOs, and automationProficient in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell to enhance observability capabilities and automate operational tasksPreferred QualificationsExperience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or other IaC toolsFamiliarity with container orchestration (e.g., ECS, EKS, AKS)Experience with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or ELK StackExposure to CI/CD tooling and practicesRelevant certifications such as AWS Certified Database – Specialty or SRE trainingThe Ideal CandidateBrings deep expertise in managing and optimizing databases and understands the operational needs of modern platformsThrives in cross-functional collaboration and enjoys balancing data reliability with platform scalabilityEnjoys automating infrastructure and solving reliability challenges across systemsLearn MoreAbout AutodeskWelcome to Autodesk! For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $130,900 and $211,750. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range.
